More than half of the Chinese public have some knowledge about World Expo 2010 Shanghai but do not have a clear understanding of what to expect. The top themes associated with the Expo are sustainability, technology, and innovation. Around half of respondents knew the Expo would last 6 months. While the majority expect to visit country pavilions and science/technology showcases, awareness of specific activities is more limited. East China expresses stronger intent to visit due to proximity. The main barrier cited for not visiting is distance rather than cost. Most visitors plan 2-3 visits, and would spend less than RMB200 on tickets but over RMB1000 on other expenses.
