So let’s assume that part is behind you. Here’s a short story.

• The work ethic of the individual.
• His/her morals, meaning what is it can I get away with today.[Based on the notion that people are basically lazy]
• The extent that he/she believes someone is watching their movements. [The cat is away, the mouse will play]
The One Minute Manager cites the example where the above occurred, but then also cites what occurred when the individual was challenged.
“So Bill, how long does it take to make one of these widgets?” Bill replies “oh about 10 minutes”.
Bill is half way through his shift, he has worked four hours. There are fifteen widgets completed. “So Bill, you have worked four hours and you have fifteen widgets completed, 15 x 10 = 150 minutes = 2-1/2 hours work, what did you do for the other 1-1/2 hours?”

Working with people can sometimes suck. You know how it goes, you have to get a team together, you hold countless (or pointless) meetings, nobody knows what the tasks are and who was supposed to do what, nobody can find the right documents or the right version and nobody can access any of the tools to share documents when you need them. This is usually the point where you just throw your hands up and scream, “FORGET IT, I WILL JUST DO IT MYSELF!”
But for most things, you can’t do it all by yourself. You need to collaborate with other members of your team, or other teams in the company or maybe even people outside your organization. Tools have always helped us make things suck less. The airplane made it suck less to get across the ocean, calculators made it suck less to do complex mathematical calculations and now the Cloud and Collaboration tools are making it suck less to work on projects and stay connected as teams.

What Is Ethnography
Ethnography is a method of research involving the immersive observation of and engagement with a particular culture over an extended period of time. Key skills of ethnography include observing cultural behaviors and practices as well as interviewing members of the culture to understand perspectives. There are ethical considerations around ensuring informed consent and privacy. Examples of famous ethnographies provide insight into specific cultures like an urban neighborhood in Toronto or the lives of African American women. Corporations have also utilized ethnography to better understand customer needs through case studies involving health companies and technology firms.
Survey Research 101
This document provides an overview of online surveys, including what they are, when they are the right research method to use, how to design good survey questions, sampling techniques, analyzing survey results, and the skills needed to conduct surveys. Some key points covered include: surveys involve asking structured questions to summarize opinions in numerical format and generalize to a population; good questions are mutually exclusive, exhaustive, and focus on opinions rather than usability; probability sampling allows for predicting accuracy and generalizing, while non-probability provides some insight; descriptive statistics summarize responses and variation, while inferential statistics predict behavior and influences; and surveys have limitations in explaining reasons and characteristics.
Mixing Qualitative and Quantitative Research
