2. Woods
Woods we did not use and why:
I did not use Hardwood one reason for this is the
wood is not very strong and I needed to apply
tiles to the flat.
Another, wood which I did not use was plywood and
one reason for this is because it is flexible and
again I needed to stick tiles to it also the wood is
very expensive and I was working on a tight
budget.
I was going to use polystyrene dado rail in my
set, when I priced the rail I found out that it was
too expensive and I didn't have enough money
in my budget to buy it.
Woods we did use and why:
The wood that I used to create my flat was Pinewood
to build the frame. The reason for this is
because it is cheap and very easy to work with
and it very strong.
I also used MDF (Medium Density Fibre) for the
cover. I used this because the wood is very
strong and I needed to add a shelf onto it. The
wood also has a good finish to it.
I used a soft wood dado rail in my set, I did this
because I managed to find a lot of left over
pieces from a previous set, which fitted
perfectly this saved me using money from my
budget and helped with recycling.
3. Materials
Materials we did not use and why:
I was going to use silk for the curtains but it was too
expensive, and when I looked into it I realised
that it was too delicate and it would rip if a cast
or crew member applied pressure to it.
I wanted to use a cotton throw in my set, I looked for
a cotton throw but couldn't find any in a colour
that matched.
Materials we did use and why:
I used net curtains as they are inexpensive, they are
made of a light material but are still strong
enough not to rip when pressure is applied. This
also stopped people inside the set having their
vision impaired, through light reflecting from
the material, as the nets have a pattern made
out of holes so light can pass through.
I used a wool blend material throw in my set, this is
because the colour matched perfectly with the
interior of my set.
We did not use many materials.
