WISPr Wi-Fi Access Points

NetWise Director supports authentication to WISPr Wi-Fi Access Points and EAP-SIM/AKA authentication
to PDIF and ePDGs. NetWise Director also allows [Company Name] to define Wi-Fi profiles in the policy
file, including credentials to support WEP, WPA/WPA2 (Personal and Enterprise) and EAP-SIM
authentication to Wi-Fi Access Points.

When a user first attempts to connect to a secure Wi-Fi network via a WISPr AP, NetWise Director
redirects the user to a captive portal web-page /splash-screen with “terms and conditions” the user
must accept and/or a login page for entering user credentials. (The captive portal is a configurable
feature to the Auto-Authentication solution.) Once the user authenticates to the network, any
subsequent attempts by the user to connect to that network are automatically authenticated using the
stored user credentials.

The following call flow example depicts a user connecting to a secured Wi-Fi network via WISPr.

   1. Device downloadsthe NetWise Director clientwith built-in WISPr support
   2. NetWise Directorclient launches a captive portal for theuser to accept terms/enter
authentication credentials the first time a WISPr Wi-Fi network is detected
   3. Device detects a subsequent WISPr Wi-Fi network
   4. Device performs a connection request
   5. NetWise Director client performs WISPr authentication
   6. Internet access is granted to the user

Additionally, [Company Name] can configure a WISPr-based Wi-Fi network profile with SSID and login
credentials in the policy file, which is pushed to the NetWise Director client on the device. When a
policy-defined WISPr network is detected, the user is automatically authenticated to the network using
the credentials in the policy.
