TECHNOLOGY OF TST 
Comments from Our Scientists 
The core ofTST detection technology is the electromagnetic (EM) sensor technology for the 
non-destructive test of the ferromagnetic objects. The focus of the test is to detect the EM field signal 
induced by the target and recognize the featured flaw signals through regulating and detecting process. 
'Regulating' refers to the process that the system regulates the magnetic field ofthe target object to build 
an optimized detecting environment. Detecting process means that the sensors can thus recognize the 
featured flaw signals according to the encoded regulation. The theoretical detecting sensitivity and 
resolution of the system can be as high as 0.3 gauss and 1 MHz, which means that the sensor is sensitive to a 
magnetic field with a magnitude of the earth field and can scan 1 million times per second. The advantage of 
such a high sensitivity and high resolution is that all different types of flaws on the target will be detected 
from internally and externally, and the speed ofthe detection can meet the requirements of real-time 
detection for fast moving wire ropes in operation. Our advanced magnetic sensor technique also ensures that 
the noise signals are effectively screened out so that we could develop an accurate pattern recognition model 
for system automation and intelligent computer evaluation. 
What is TST-FDSys™and TST-FDSol™? 
TST-FDSysrM ---The system is created by TSTscientists and engineers to automatically detect the physical flaws on 
the wire ropes and steel-cord conveyor belts. Given the detected flaw data, the system can thus make evaluations of 
the safety status and operating performance of the targets. For the on site engineers and operating managers, 
TST-FDSysrM will provide both realtime inspection monitor alongside the producing operation and comprehensive 
report at the end of per detection task. Therefore, flaws on the detecting target will be noticed instantly wherever it 
appears and the automatically generated report will demonstrate the overall status of the target with detailed analysis 
of each detected flaw. 
TST-FDSolrM ---A solution package is crafted on basis ofTST-FDSysrM detection expertise and operation management 
expertise to provide our customers with not only safety but also measurable economic benefits beyond the technical scope.

How does TST-FDSys™ Work? 
The architecture of the system comprises the sensor-set, hardware infrastructure and software. In TST terminology, these units are 
named as WiSensorrM, lnfoBridgerM and T-ArithmeticarM. 
The detection process is: 
1. Detection is conducted under a regulated environment 
2. Raw signals are captured by WiSensorrM. 
3. WiSensor delivers the raw data to the lnfoBridgerM. 
4. The lnfoBridge integrates and processes the data from different WiSensor channels. 
5. T-ArithmeticTM calculates and transforms the processed information into analytical results and visual reconstruction of flaws as: 
'Flaw Type', 'Flaw Position', 'Flaw Severity' and 'Simulated Flaw Image'.

Offshore Drilling Platform TST Flaw Detection System- Portable 2012.7 
The wire rope inspection service provider, PST, Singapore used TST FDS Portable- TSX1142 to 
implement a wire rope inspection project for the crane wire rope on an offshore drilling platform. The 
total inspection rope length is around 500 meters. This assignment was carried out by 1 inspection 
technician under a 3-round procedure. The actual inspection time is around 2 hours. The inspection report 
was provided to the end user instantly according to the detection report generated by TST FDS Portable 
on site. The end user is satisfied with the effectiveness and the efficiency delivered by TST FDS to the 
inspection business. 
CJS Coal Mine,Shanxi,China TST FDS Portable 2013.8 
CJS Coal Mine applied TST FDS Portable Solution- TSX1180 (Explosion-proof) for the inspection of their large size 
(80mm) coal mine hoist wire rope. In the package, we provided solutions to training, inspecting, managing, reporting 
and upgrading for our customer. The customer's wire rope maintenance operation is enhanced by TST FDS. The safety 
hazards are controlled and operation efficiency is improved. 
Shenhua Group, China TST FDS Realtime 2013.7 
In this case, the detection target is the endless wire rope for the rope winch system which is similar to the cableway winch. It's 
used for the transportation of miners between ground and underground mining sites. 
TST team made a customized design for the physical installation and detection strategy. The functions realized by TST FDS 
Realtime- TSG21 01 H include fulltime and realtime inspection of wire rope, instant monitor and control of detection process, alarm 
and emergency protocol, instant and scheduled detection reports, historical data analysis. 
This case is the first time in the world that a realtime wire rope flaw detection solution is successfully applied to the endless rope 
winch system (passenger monkey car).
SDIC XINJI Energy Co., Ltd TST FDS Realtime 2011.3 
TST FDS Realtime has a strong data integration and analysis capability. In this case, the target is using a 4 rope ground hoisting system. 
We provide detection reports for each rope separately and for the 4-rope system correlatively. The deterioration trend for each 
identified flaw will also be analyzed in the historical database. 
Yima Coal Mine Group, China TST FDS Conveyor Belt 2013.11 
This is a realtime conveyor belt inspection case for a 2000 meter long, 1.2 meter wide underground mining conveyor belt 
system. Before the TST Flaw Detection System, there wasn't any effective way to inspect the conveyor belt steel cords and 
splices in realtime. The maintenance of conveyor belt had been a time and resource costly job. In the first 3 month trial 
period after installation, broken cords and splice defects were quantitatively identified and accurately located. The 
deterioration trend of splice defects was also analyzed and evaluated. The detection functions have been fully 
approved for the steel cord belt after the trial. 
Tongde Coal Mine TST FDS Conveyor Belt 2013.6 
The mechanical installation ofTST FDS Conveyor Belt must fulfill the following criteria. The normal operation 
of conveyor belt cannot be interrupted or compromised. On site safety regulations cannot be violated. 
Operations respecting conveyor belt system maintenance cannot be obstructed. The design of our 
reatlime conveyor belt flaw detection system is approved to meet such criteria for a 3000 meter long, 1.2 
meter wide conveyor belt in this case. The safety management oft he target is materially enhanced.

TECHNOLOGY OF TST Comments from Our Scientists The core ofTST detection technology is the electromagnetic (EM) sensor technology for the non-destructive test of the ferromagnetic objects. The focus of the test is to detect the EM field signal induced by the target and recognize the featured flaw signals through regulating and detecting process. 'Regulating' refers to the process that the system regulates the magnetic field ofthe target object to build an optimized detecting environment. Detecting process means that the sensors can thus recognize the featured flaw signals according to the encoded regulation. The theoretical detecting sensitivity and resolution of the system can be as high as 0.3 gauss and 1 MHz, which means that the sensor is sensitive to a magnetic field with a magnitude of the earth field and can scan 1 million times per second. The advantage of such a high sensitivity and high resolution is that all different types of flaws on the target will be detected from internally and externally, and the speed ofthe detection can meet the requirements of real-time detection for fast moving wire ropes in operation. Our advanced magnetic sensor technique also ensures that the noise signals are effectively screened out so that we could develop an accurate pattern recognition model for system automation and intelligent computer evaluation. What is TST-FDSys™and TST-FDSol™? TST-FDSysrM ---The system is created by TSTscientists and engineers to automatically detect the physical flaws on the wire ropes and steel-cord conveyor belts. Given the detected flaw data, the system can thus make evaluations of the safety status and operating performance of the targets. For the on site engineers and operating managers, TST-FDSysrM will provide both realtime inspection monitor alongside the producing operation and comprehensive report at the end of per detection task. Therefore, flaws on the detecting target will be noticed instantly wherever it appears and the automatically generated report will demonstrate the overall status of the target with detailed analysis of each detected flaw. The total inspection rope length is around 500 meters. This assignment was carried out by 1 inspection technician under a 3-round procedure. The actual inspection time is around 2 hours. The inspection report was provided to the end user instantly according to the detection report generated by TST FDS Portable on site. The end user is satisfied with the effectiveness and the efficiency delivered by TST FDS to the inspection business. CJS Coal Mine,Shanxi,China TST FDS Portable 2013.8 CJS Coal Mine applied TST FDS Portable Solution- TSX1180 (Explosion-proof) for the inspection of their large size (80mm) coal mine hoist wire rope. In the package, we provided solutions to training, inspecting, managing, reporting and upgrading for our customer. The customer's wire rope maintenance operation is enhanced by TST FDS. The safety hazards are controlled and operation efficiency is improved. Shenhua Group, China TST FDS Realtime 2013.7 In this case, the detection target is the endless wire rope for the rope winch system which is similar to the cableway winch. It's used for the transportation of miners between ground and underground mining sites. TST team made a customized design for the physical installation and detection strategy. The functions realized by TST FDS Realtime- TSG21 01 H include fulltime and realtime inspection of wire rope, instant monitor and control of detection process, alarm and emergency protocol, instant and scheduled detection reports, historical data analysis. This case is the first time in the world that a realtime wire rope flaw detection solution is successfully applied to the endless rope winch system (passenger monkey car).
  • 8. SDIC XINJI Energy Co., Ltd TST FDS Realtime 2011.3 TST FDS Realtime has a strong data integration and analysis capability. In this case, the target is using a 4 rope ground hoisting system. We provide detection reports for each rope separately and for the 4-rope system correlatively. The deterioration trend for each identified flaw will also be analyzed in the historical database. Yima Coal Mine Group, China TST FDS Conveyor Belt 2013.11 This is a realtime conveyor belt inspection case for a 2000 meter long, 1.2 meter wide underground mining conveyor belt system. Before the TST Flaw Detection System, there wasn't any effective way to inspect the conveyor belt steel cords and splices in realtime. The maintenance of conveyor belt had been a time and resource costly job. In the first 3 month trial period after installation, broken cords and splice defects were quantitatively identified and accurately located. The deterioration trend of splice defects was also analyzed and evaluated. The detection functions have been fully approved for the steel cord belt after the trial. Tongde Coal Mine TST FDS Conveyor Belt 2013.6 The mechanical installation ofTST FDS Conveyor Belt must fulfill the following criteria. The normal operation of conveyor belt cannot be interrupted or compromised. On site safety regulations cannot be violated. Operations respecting conveyor belt system maintenance cannot be obstructed. The design of our reatlime conveyor belt flaw detection system is approved to meet such criteria for a 3000 meter long, 1.2 meter wide conveyor belt in this case.
