2. Ancient Peaks Cabernet
Sauvignon
Some cranberry, leather and tannins come across.
Finishes like a Cabernet Franc – slightly vegetal
with a hint of red licorice on the tail end. Fairly
priced. It’s 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, with 10%
Merlot, 5%...

3. Intercept Wines red blend
Olive and saline in the nose with green olive on the
palate, and some sour cherry and tannins help it
stand up to food. Not jammy at all. It’s a blend of
45% Petite Sirah, 22% Syrah, 19% Zinfandel, 10%
Petit Verdot and 4% Mourvèdre.

4. Coen Rose
Bright, rich red – almost candy apple in color,
raspberry in taste. Fruit is definitely there but
enough acid helps it stand up to food. Nice
presentation wine. It’s proof Rose should not be
relegated to summer sipping on the patio only.

5. Gnarly Head Zinfandel
It’s been awhile since we sipped Gnarly Head. It’s a
simple and overly fruited Zin with a hint of smoke.
No off flavors but leaning into sweet land. No
tannins, not real complex. Let’s call this one fairly
priced.

6. Dry Creek Chenin Blanc
Pear, lemon-crème pie, hint of butter and melon
notes come out, with a very pleasant, slightly acidic
burn in the back of the throat to make this a good
food wine or stand-alone sipper. Well-balanced, it
drew a universal thumb’s up from our tasting
panel.

7. Ritual Pinot Noir
Dried cherry, red licorice and cranberry (though
not tangy) all punch through – with no tannins to
speak of. Decent for the price point. Works as
stand-alone and went great with salmon and
vegetables.
