This document presents an undergraduate project on underwater image restoration using scene depth estimation. The project is presented by three students under the guidance of Mr. Abdul Rahaman of the Electronics and Communication Engineering department at Malla Reddy Institute of Engineering and Technology. The abstract describes how underwater images are distorted by light absorption and scattering and how existing restoration methods require specialized hardware or multiple images. The project proposes to estimate depth maps based on image blurriness and use this along with a light absorption model to restore images in real-time without multiple images.
