In the roaring 20's people thought that there was no stopping to the prosperous times. Until one day, people started dumping stocks at such a frenzy that it sent the whole world in probably the worst economic depression in history.
By all means the signs of a coming collapse were present. Stocks were at all time high. In fact unreasonably high. And people were living beyond their means.

A potem przeczytałam książkę Aronsona "Błądzą wszyscy (ale nie ja)". Oczywiście natychmiast zgodziłam się z tytułem. Tyle osób błądzi! Na szczęście moja rozwinięta intuicja pomaga mi być mniej omylną niż inni!
Ale im dalej czytałam... Dostrzeganie tylko tych informacji, które potwierdzają moją hipotezę, dorabianie ideologii post factum, wybaczanie jednemu autorytetowi zachowań, których absolutnie nie akceptuję u innej osoby...
Co na to moja intuicja??!! Wyraźnie mówiła mi, że coś nie gra.
Po fazie odrzucenia wszelkich sprzecznych z moimi poglądami informacji nastąpiła faza bolesnej akceptacji.
Biję się w piersi i już wiem że błądzę :). Na szczęście nie zawsze (chociaż znowu coś mi tam za lewym uchem szepcze – skąd wiesz kiedy jest to "nie zawsze"...)
O większości opisanych w książce mechanizmów uczyłam się na studniach i nawet nadal je pamiętam - na poziomie teoretycznym. Ale ta książka porusza coś więcej niż teorię. Nie wiem czym jest to "coś" w moim wnętrzu (Wątroba? Nerka? A może... mózg?).
W każdym razie Aronson towarzyszy mi teraz bardzo często.
Mniej się upieram, że na pewno mam rację. Gdy słyszę o zachowaniu polityka, którego poważam, zadaję sobie pytanie - czy takie zachowanie zaakceptowałabym u tego polityka, którego nie cenię?
Jestem bardziej świadoma. Zadaję sobie więcej pytań i zbieram więcej informacji.
To jedna z ważniejszych lektur.
