Wilhelm Wien was a German physicist born in 1864 in East Prussia. He studied at universities in Gottingen and Berlin and became famous for his work on blackbody radiation. In 1911, Wien was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics for deriving a formula for the composition of radiation in short waves. He spent his career as a professor in Munich, making important contributions to the study of heat, light, and electromagnetic waves. Wien died in Munich in 1928.
