Wife carrying is a sport that originated in Finland and involves a man carrying his wife or another woman over an obstacle course. The official track is 253.5 meters long and includes two dry obstacles and a one meter deep water obstacle. The woman being carried, or "wife", must weigh at least 49 kilograms and wear a helmet, while the man wears a carrying belt. Competitions involve pairs running the course simultaneously with the fastest team winning along with prizes for most entertaining, best costume, and strongest carrier.
