Why  We  Whine The American Heritage Dictionary defines whining: “to complain or to protest in a childish, annoying fashion.” While whining may be a childish characteristic children are by no means the only ones who whine.  Ex. 16:1-12 God considers whining and complaining a very serious thing!  Num. 11:1-3; 1 Cor. 10:10
Because Things Are Not Happening The Way We Want Them To Happen Whining may be a way of registering our dissatisfaction of the way things are going  Mk. 14:3-5; John 12:1-6 A truth about life: We cannot have our way all the time! Because We Want Attention Sometimes whining is our way of letting others know that we are not getting our due.  Acts 6:1 We may whine as a means of simply getting others to spend time with us. In the end whining  will not  get us the kind of attention we want or need.  Prov. 25:24 Why  We  Whine
Why  We  Whine Because We Are Bored Often “idleness” is the cause of our complaining.  2 Tim. 2:16; Mt. 12:36 Solution: Get to work!  Heb. 4:11-16 If we would keep ourselves constructively busy it will help us avoid many problems related to the tongue. 1 Tim. 5:13; 2 Thes. 3:11ff
Why  We  Whine Because We Are Tired, Hungry, or Sick Physically, when our body is in need or is sick, we become cranky. Same is true spiritually: weakness or sickness sets us up for an unhealthy bout of whining.  Jude 16 For the Christian who constantly grumbles the root source of their problem is an unhealthy relationship with God.  Col. 3:15
Why  We  Whine Because It Is A Habit Some have whined for so long and so often that they are not even aware that they do it. We need to seek the Lord’s help in seeing bad habits such as this.  Ps.19:12; Ps.139:23,24 As brothers and sisters we need to help each other with something like this or any other sin. One may not realize that they have a problem with complaining.  Gal. 6:1-2
Whining is sinful and God wants us to avoid it!  James 5:9 In fact God commands that we do all things without whining!  Phil. 2:14-15 (ASV)  Do all things without murmurings and questionings:  (NKJV)  Do all things without complaining and disputing,  Let us live without whining so we can shine as lights for Christ!
