Modern SQL in Open Source and Commercial DatabasesMarkus Winand
SQL has gone out of fashion lately—partly due to the NoSQL movement, but mostly because SQL is often still used like 20 years ago. As a matter of fact, the SQL standard continued to evolve during the past decades resulting in the current release of 2016. In this session, we will go through the most important additions since the widely known SQL-92. We will cover common table expressions and window functions in detail and have a very short look at the temporal features of SQL:2011 and row pattern matching from SQL:2016.

JVM Mechanics: When Does the JVM JIT & Deoptimize?Doug Hawkins
HotSpot promises to do the "right" thing for us by identifying our hot code and compiling "just-in-time", but how does HotSpot make those decisions?
This presentation aims to detail how HotSpot makes those decisions and how it corrects its mistakes through a series of demos that you run yourself.
This presentation focuses on optimization of queries in MySQL from developer’s perspective. Developers should care about the performance of the application, which includes optimizing SQL queries. It shows the execution plan in MySQL and explain its different formats - tabular, TREE and JSON/visual explain plans. Optimizer features like optimizer hints and histograms as well as newer features like HASH joins, TREE explain plan and EXPLAIN ANALYZE from latest releases are covered. Some real examples of slow queries are included and their optimization explained.
An introduction to Rust: the modern programming language to develop safe and ...Claudio Capobianco
Rust is a young programming language developed by Mozilla with the open source community support. According to a survey of StackOverflow, in 2016 was the most loved among developers language! The goal of Rust is to combine control and performances, that is, operate at low level with high-level constructs. The actual applications vary from operating system to web development. Rust natively includes tools for Agile development, such as dependency management, testing and much more. The gap with other popular languages is filling up quickly thanks to the community, very active and fantastic :)
In this introductory presentation we will discuss the characteristics that make Rust unique, including the concepts of Ownership, Borrowing, and Lifetimes.
These slide has be presented for a talk in BIC Lazio Casilina, that has been also the first meetup of Rust Rome!
This is an introduction to NodeJS which is an open-source, cross-platform run-time environment for developing server-side Web Applications. It also discusses the implications of NodeJS in Internet of Things (IoT).
Practical and conceptual overview of Javascript prototype paradigm, how to use prototypes, how do they work, and how do they differ from classes, and why there are no real classes in Javascript.
PostgreSQL, performance for queries with groupingAlexey Bashtanov
The talk will cover PostgreSQL grouping and aggregation facilities and best practices of using them in fast and efficient manner.
In 40 minutes the audience will learn several techniques to optimise queries containing GROUP BY, DISTINCT or DISTINCT ON keywords.
State is managed within the component in which variables declared in function body. State can be changed. State can be accessed using “useState” Hook in functional components and “this.state” in class components. Hook is a new feature in react. To use this expression it’s essential to have good understanding of class components. State hold information that used for UI by browser.

PostgreSQL (or Postgres) began its life in 1986 as POSTGRES, a research project of the University of California at Berkeley.
PostgreSQL isn't just relational, it's object-relational.it's object-relational. This gives it some advantages over other open source SQL databases like MySQL, MariaDB and Firebird.

How to Analyze and Tune MySQL Queries for Better Performanceoysteing
Tutorial at Oracle Open World 2015:
Performance of SQL queries plays a big role in application performance. If some queries execute slowly, these queries or the database schema may need tuning. This tutorial covers query processing, optimization methods, and how the MySQL optimizer chooses a specific plan to execute SQL. See demonstrations on how to use tools such as EXPLAIN (including the JSON-based variant), optimizer trace, and performance schema to analyze query plans. See how the Visual Explain functionality in MySQL Workbench helps you to visualize these plans. Based on the analysis, the tutorial covers how to take the next steps for performance tuning. It might mean forcing a particular index, changing the schema, or modifying configuration parameters.

Hybrid optimization of pumped hydro system and solar- Engr. Abdul-Azeez.pdffxintegritypublishin
Advancements in technology unveil a myriad of electrical and electronic breakthroughs geared towards efficiently harnessing limited resources to meet human energy demands. The optimization of hybrid solar PV panels and pumped hydro energy supply systems plays a pivotal role in utilizing natural resources effectively. This initiative not only benefits humanity but also fosters environmental sustainability. The study investigated the design optimization of these hybrid systems, focusing on understanding solar radiation patterns, identifying geographical influences on solar radiation, formulating a mathematical model for system optimization, and determining the optimal configuration of PV panels and pumped hydro storage. Through a comparative analysis approach and eight weeks of data collection, the study addressed key research questions related to solar radiation patterns and optimal system design. The findings highlighted regions with heightened solar radiation levels, showcasing substantial potential for power generation and emphasizing the system's efficiency. Optimizing system design significantly boosted power generation, promoted renewable energy utilization, and enhanced energy storage capacity. The study underscored the benefits of optimizing hybrid solar PV panels and pumped hydro energy supply systems for sustainable energy usage. Optimizing the design of solar PV panels and pumped hydro energy supply systems as examined across diverse climatic conditions in a developing country, not only enhances power generation but also improves the integration of renewable energy sources and boosts energy storage capacities, particularly beneficial for less economically prosperous regions. Additionally, the study provides valuable insights for advancing energy research in economically viable areas. Recommendations included conducting site-specific assessments, utilizing advanced modeling tools, implementing regular maintenance protocols, and enhancing communication among system components.
Immunizing Image Classifiers Against Localized Adversary Attacksgerogepatton
This paper addresses the vulnerability of deep learning models, particularly convolutional neural networks
(CNN)s, to adversarial attacks and presents a proactive training technique designed to counter them. We
introduce a novel volumization algorithm, which transforms 2D images into 3D volumetric representations.
When combined with 3D convolution and deep curriculum learning optimization (CLO), itsignificantly improves
the immunity of models against localized universal attacks by up to 40%. We evaluate our proposed approach
using contemporary CNN architectures and the modified Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR-10
and CIFAR-100) and ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC12) datasets, showcasing
accuracy improvements over previous techniques. The results indicate that the combination of the volumetric
input and curriculum learning holds significant promise for mitigating adversarial attacks without necessitating
adversary training.
