The circular economy is an emerging concept that aims to create value by enabling cross-industry collaboration through improved business models and economic policies. It focuses on socio-technical systems like food, energy, and mobility that provide social needs within ecological limits. These systems withdraw resources from and deposit emissions and pollution back into ecosystems, whose services and externalities factor into their economic functions. Circular design works to make these systems more sustainable by reducing waste and promoting reuse.
