During high school I participated in a program which allowed me to attend my high school classes in the morning and college classes during the afternoon. At that time I wanted to be a mechanic and a machinist.
At the USAF SAM I attended courses for industrial hygiene, safety, environmental health, public health, radiological surveys and water quality. I also returned for seminars and workshops annually.
During the time I was attending the Sheriff’s academy, I took a position as a school teacher and computer systems administrator which made my schedule more flexible.
At this time, desk top computers were a very new technology. I was fortunate to have access to one and was able to begin automating some of our data collection and storage procedures. We were the medical facility for a Coast Guard Lifeboat station and they were very pleased to see that we were able to give them their data in a report format that I developed.
Wing commanders want their planes to look nice all the time. This was especially true at my base because the wing supported the White House special operations needs. Sending an aircraft for painting at a designated facility is very expensive and time consuming.
Finally, as my record shows, I have a proven record of success. I am a self starter who works hard to do the job well and in a timely manner. I am loyal. I love my profession. I save lives by bringing my significant set of skills to the workplace and using them to make a difference. Workers deserve a safe and healthful work place. Employers deserve a full days work for a full days pay and a freedom from liability being created in that work place. The way to achieve these goals is to employ the best practices in each trade/profession. I make that happen.
