The MPA Capstone Project (Project here after) is constructed over two courses POL 688 and POL 689. This document will detail the expectations of required work in POL 688, as well as overall expectations of the Project that will be submitted in POL 689.
The Capstone Project is required for students in all concentrations. It provides an opportunity for students to integrate theory and practice in a significant problem-solving exercise. For this project students will conduct an original, analytical research project consisting of professional analysis of a management problem leading to practical implementation in governmental, health care, or nonprofit settings, or theoretical inquiry in the field of public administration. The Prospectus Overview and Instructions
The prospectus is brief document that serves as a road map for the dissertation. It provides the essential framework to guide the development of the dissertation proposal. The prospectus builds on the 10 Strategic Points (shown in Appendix A) and should be no longer than 6-10 pages, excluding the criteria tables and the appendices. The prospectus will be expanded to become the dissertation proposal (Chapters 1, 2 and 3 of the dissertation), which will, in turn, be expanded to become the complete dissertation (Chapters 1-5). In short, the prospectus is a plan for the proposal. Prior to developing the prospectus, the 10 Strategic points should be reviewed with the chair and committee to ensure the points are aligned and form a clear, defined, and doable study. The10 Strategic Points should be included in Appendix A of this prospectus document.
It is important to ensure the prospectus is well written from the very first draft. The most important consideration when writing the prospectus is using the required criteria specified in the criterion table below each section and writing specifically to each criterion! Also critical is for learners to follow standard paragraph structure: (1) contains a topic sentence defining the focus of the paragraph, (2) discusses only that single topic, (3) contains three to five sentences, and (4) includes a transition sentence to the next paragraph or section. The sentences should also be structurally correct, short, and focused. Throughout the dissertation process, learners are expected to always produce a well-written document as committee members and peer reviewers will not edit writing. If prospectus it is not well written, reviewers may reject the document and require the learner to address writing issues before they will review it again. 1. Read the entire Prospectus Template to understand the requirements for writing your prospectus. Each section contains a narrative overview of what should be included in the section and a table with required criteria for each section. WRITE TO THE CRITERIA, as they will be used to assess the prospectus for overall quality and feasibility of your proposed research study.

The article goes on to explore the different definitions, and defining characteristics, such as cell-based networks, political motivation, religious ideology, and the targeting of noncombatants. A large part of terrorism is creating and utilizing fear. The article suggest that managing the population's general fear of terrorism may be more effective than targeting terrorists themselves (Forst, 2007). The article goes on to discuss different viewpoints regarding what terrorism truly is, whether it is a tactic or an ideology.
Forst identifies categories that nearly all acts of terrorism and terrorist groups fit into which help distinguish between the different types of terrorists, terrorist groups, and terrorist acts:
* whether or not politically motivated
* whether or not operating under state authority
* degree of association with larger terrorist organizations or networks
* extent of organization and planning
* whether justified in religious or ethnic terms
* whether aimed primarily at people or at symbolic targets
* the types of people targeted
I found this article interesting, and found the exercise of examining the different definitions of terrorism useful. The author's categories designed for distinguishing between terror related incidents and groups is an interesting tool for examining the differences between terrorist organizations and actors. Personally, I generally attribute the label terrorism to any violent or destructive act, which is primarily motivated by extremist religious or political beliefs. I view terrorism strictly as an ideology, although it is technically possible for entities to utilize terrorism as a tactic, I believe that to carry out acts of terrorism, one must be driven by an extremist ideology.

based itself on Customer Centricity in stores.
Its origin was figured out by
Best Buy
when they realized they could not beat
Walmart
on price. Therefore, the strategy ventured by Best Buy aimed at competing with Walmart
to
out do
them in online retailing.
It is in this regard that technology can blur the distinction between online and physical retailing, hence enabling the retailers and their supply chain partners rethink their competitive strategies.

Terrorism, Crime and Public Policy
, explores the concept of terrorism by examining the meaning of terrorism and questioning the many different interpretations of the label. In order to understand terrorism, the author explores the definitions and typologies of terrorism. "The common modern usage of the term, developed in the mid-twentieth century, regards terrorism as a tool of ethnic and religious fanatics to serve political ends, such as liberation from an alien occupying group, or simply to exact righteous vengeance against a group labeled as a threat or enemy" (Forst, 2007, p. 3).
The article goes on to explore the different definitions, and defining characteristics, such as cell-based networks, political motivation, religious ideology, and the targeting of noncombatants. A large part of terrorism is creating and utilizing fear. The article suggest that managing the population's general fear of terrorism may be more effective than targeting terrorists themselves (Forst, 2007). The article goes on to discuss different viewpoints regarding what terrorism truly is, whether it is a tactic or an ideology.
Forst identifies categories that nearly all acts of terrorism and terrorist groups fit into which help distinguish between the different types of terrorists, terrorist groups, and terrorist acts:
* whether or not politically motivated
* whether or not operating under state authority
* degree of association with larger terrorist organizations or networks
* extent of organization and planning
* whether justified in religious or ethnic terms
* whether aimed primarily at people or at symbolic targets
* the types of people targeted
I found this article interesting, and found the exercise of examining the different definitions of terrorism useful. The author's categories designed for distinguishing between terror related incidents and groups is an interesting tool for examining the differences between terrorist organizations and actors. Personally, I generally attribute the label terrorism to any violent or destructive act, which is primarily motivated by extremist religious or political beliefs. I view terrorism strictly as an ideology, although it is technically possible for entities to utilize terrorism as a tactic, I believe that to carry out acts of terrorism, one must be driven by an extremist ideology.

environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the
