This document is a summary of chapter 1 from Jerry Savelle's book "Walking in Divine Favor". It discusses how we are all somebody special to God, having been crowned with glory and honor. It aims to build self-esteem by revealing our high value and favor in God's sight, despite any past failures or mistakes. We are loved objects of God's affection, and with this revelation, we can expect to walk in continual victory.
1. The passage discusses how Abraham and believers alike are made righteous through faith in what God has said, not works or rule-keeping.
2. It indicates God's plan from the beginning was for all nations to receive blessing, not just Jews, through faith in Christ.
3. Trying to please God through one's own cultural customs or rule-keeping places one under a curse rather than receiving new life through faith.
4. Christ freed believers from this curse through his death, so that God's blessing could be received by all through faith in what God has said.
This document discusses living in divine prosperity through commitment to God over the world. It argues that many Christians try to live by both God's and the world's systems, but this does not work as you cannot serve two masters. The world is suffering financially but God has a higher way for his people above the struggles of the world. To receive God's blessings of prosperity, one must fully commit to God and his word over listening to the ways of the world. God wants his people to be free from financial bondage and hardship.
This document is a sermon on the sanctity of human life. It discusses how the Bible teaches that all human life is sacred from conception based on passages like Genesis 1:27 and Psalm 139. It provides statistics on abortion rates in the US and Mississippi and examines pro-life and pro-choice positions. The sermon argues that one's view of the sanctity of life should affect how they treat all people with dignity and respect, as well as their own bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit. It addresses related issues like capital punishment and war.
This document provides a summary of a sermon given on Hebrews 12:1-11 about God's discipline of believers. The sermon discusses how believers are to run the race of faith with endurance, looking to Jesus as the example. It explains that God disciplines believers as children, for purposes of correction, prevention of sin, and education. Though discipline is difficult, it produces righteousness and peace. Believers are encouraged to view difficulties as God's training and endure hardship, trusting that God is refining them.
This document is a chapter from the book "Take Charge of Your Financial Destiny" by Jerry Savelle. The chapter discusses protecting your seed, which refers to money or resources intended for sowing or investing. It describes how Satan tries to consume people's seed through unexpected expenses or convincing them they can't afford to give. It highlights the story of Abram driving away birds that tried to consume his sacrifice before he could present it to God. The chapter teaches that seed is meant for sowing, not consuming, and that sowing seed determines your future through the law of sowing and reaping.

This document discusses the doctrine of election and predestination from a biblical perspective. It provides several key points:
1) Election refers to God's sovereign choice of individuals and groups to be part of his plan of salvation. This is seen throughout the Old and New Testaments with figures like Abraham and groups like Israel.
2) Passages like Romans 9:11 emphasize that God's election is not based on works but on his sovereign will.
3) The elect include both Israel as God's chosen nation and the church as those adopted as God's children through Christ.
4) While the doctrine involves mysteries, the Bible teaches God's electing purpose in salvation and calls believers to make their calling and
The document outlines seven golden promises for joy from the book of Philippians: 1) Completion of the good work God began, 2) Clarity and guidance, 3) Physical transformation, 4) Peace of God, 5) God of peace, 6) Strength to accomplish all things, 7) Provision of all needs. It then provides biblical support and explanation for each of these promises. The document encourages believers to claim these promises and rely on God's strength as they pursue holiness.

Chinese people often say that it is necessary to cultivate one’s body and one’s family to govern the country , then, conquer the world. But is that so in the kingdom of God? If so, then what should be different? Why does God say that you are a friend of the world and that you are an enemy of me? So a concept that seems easy to understand is a trap that is easy to fall into. So when we apply it to the church, how should we do it, then what is the standard, whether we will be deceived by the surface illusion, and did not choose disciples who fit God’s will to manage the church

The document outlines 7 means by which God communicates His will, listed in order of importance:
1. God's Word in the Bible provides answers to most life questions and problems.
2. God speaks through specific verses or passages that come to mind when thinking on an issue.
3. Direct revelation comes through dreams, visions, or messages received directly from God.
4. Seeking counsel from wise Christians established in their faith can help discern God's will.
5. Circumstances may indicate God's leading through open or closed doors of opportunity.
This document summarizes a sermon given on Philippians 3:9b about righteousness coming through faith in Christ rather than works of the law. It discusses faith being evidenced in invisible spiritual realities and provides examples from Hebrews 11 of people in the Bible who lived by faith like Abraham, Noah, Enoch and Sarah. Their faith was imperfect at times but God still credited it to them as righteousness. It also references a sermon or book about the gospel being found in the stars as God promised Abraham his descendants would be as numerous. The key point is that righteousness comes from God through faith in Christ.
1) Jesus was born so that humans could be born again spiritually through faith in him.
2) Nicodemus, a Jewish leader, questions how one can be born again as an adult. Jesus explains that one must be born of water and spirit.
3) Jesus came to save humanity from sin so that they may have eternal life through believing in his death and resurrection. Those who believe in Jesus receive new life and become a new creation.

Faith has always been a very controversial subject. The reason for the controversy is that we did not follow the interpretation of the original text of the Bible. Just like the following section, when we hear the word of God, love, we use what we understand of the world to explain God’s word, love, which brings others
John. 16:13 “However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. ”
The error, is caused by, when interpreting the Bible, it is not for people to enter the truth, but for people to understand all the truths.
The document discusses evangelism and providing witness through one's life and words. It begins with quotes emphasizing the importance of spreading knowledge of God. It then outlines how Christians should witness through their conduct by living morally before others and letting their good deeds shine for God. The document also stresses the importance of the spoken word in witnessing and provides guidance on developing a three-minute testimony to share one's experience and faith in Christ. It emphasizes relying on the power of the Holy Spirit and prayer when witnessing and not focusing on results which are in God's hands. Overall, the document provides Christian believers with tools and scriptural guidance for effectively sharing their faith through their actions and speech.
This document provides biographical information about Oswald Chambers and introduces his daily devotional My Utmost for His Highest. It describes how Chambers was a Scottish minister and teacher in the early 20th century. It explains that the daily readings in the devotional were compiled from his lectures and talks given in various settings. The introductory passages seek to convey that Chambers' teachings have endured and can continue to bring inspiration from the Holy Spirit to readers.
The document provides an overview and analysis of Hebrews 12:1-11, which discusses the discipline of suffering. Some key points:
1) The passage uses the metaphor of a race to describe the Christian life journey, where believers must endure hardship and discipline to grow in faith.
2) Jesus is presented as the role model who endured the cross and now sits at God's right hand. Believers are called to keep their eyes fixed on him.
3) Suffering and difficulties in life are a form of divine discipline from God to his children, intended to produce holiness and righteousness, not punishment.
4) Discipline should not be taken lightly or cause believers to lose heart

When we walk the spiritual path, the first thing is to be sanctified, that is, to be separated from the world. And we can always remain unbiased in God’s truth, and at the same time continue to thrive. This chapter will discuss this topic

Prayer was the focus of Jesus' life and is central to many religions. The document discusses how prayer is the core of religious life and the direct line of communication to God and the spirit world. It provides quotes emphasizing the importance of prayer from various religious and historical figures. It suggests that if key biblical figures like Eve, Adam, the Pharisees, John, and Saul had prayed, tragic outcomes could have been prevented or altered. Prayer is presented as bringing truth and being the medium through which love is received and expressed through miracles.
Basic points to interpret your dreams: Symbols are very important, but the interpretation of them is what really give you an idea of the dream, this you obtain by revelation in your spirit. God is the one giving you the interpretation.
This document outlines several preconditions that must be agreed to for properly studying the Bible. It discusses that there must be a belief in God as the metaphysical precondition. Miracles as the supernatural precondition are possible if God exists. Revelation from God is also necessary and can come through general, special, and ontological means, though humans often deny it. Truth is another important epistemological precondition, with Jesus and God's word serving as the absolute standards of truth.

We have previous talked about abiding in GOD’s word. We started with some biblical verses, now we have to speed up the abiding. Here is how to do it. This approach is like a person wearing sunglasses all the time and suddenly his glasses are removed, he can see everything clearly. This change lies in the difference in vision, and everything he sees has changed completely. This should have a great change.
This document discusses the relationship between faith and works in Christianity. It argues that true faith is demonstrated through works, and that we will be judged based on our deeds, not just our beliefs. Over several sections, it makes the case that: 1) Faith without works is dead; 2) Christians cannot separate their faith from their works; 3) Works are involved in our salvation process; and 4) We will be judged according to our deeds, not just our claimed faith. The overall message is that true saving faith in Christianity necessarily involves righteous actions and obedience to God's commands.

The document discusses whether God intended for humans to be able to understand the Bible. It argues that God designed humans and the Bible in a way that allows for understanding. It provides several reasons for this, including: 1) God commands things that we are able to do, 2) the Bible itself says it was given for doctrine, reproof, etc. implying understandability, and 3) Jesus used Scripture to prove resurrection, expecting others to understand as well. The document concludes that with study, the Bible provides all we need for spiritual maturity and obedience to God.
This document discusses different types of brainstorming techniques. It describes individual brainstorming where a person works alone to generate ideas without distractions. Group brainstorming allows for the full creativity of team members where one person's ideas can inspire others. The key steps for effective group brainstorming are to prepare the group, present the problem clearly, guide a discussion of ideas, and later analyze the ideas. Rules for brainstorming include no criticism of ideas, welcoming wild ideas, and understanding that unusual ideas may lead to the best solutions. Buzz sessions are also described as a way to break a large group into smaller discussion teams to generate many ideas in a short time period.
1) The document discusses principles for discerning God's will from the life and teachings of George Müller, including seeking God in prayer through Scripture, considering providential circumstances, and proceeding only when at peace.
2) Müller prayed for fog to lift so he could make an appointment, and the captain became a Christian after the fog immediately disappeared.
3) Obeying God's will requires the constant attitude of submitting to God's timing and plans rather than relying on one's own understanding or desires.
This document discusses the Spirit of Fear of the Lord. It begins by defining the Fear of the Lord as having a dread of sinning and offending God. It then contrasts this holy fear with unholy, demonic fear that is opposed to faith. Unholy fear binds people, but perfect love from God casts out fear. The document examines what the Bible says about developing a Fear of the Lord through wisdom, obedience, and reverence for God and authorities. It emphasizes the need for transformation from irreverence to practicing reverence in how we act and live.

This document contains the text of a sermon given at First Baptist Church in Jackson, Mississippi on submission to God's will based on James 4:5-17. It discusses several principles for understanding God's will, including that God's will is not hidden from us, we should not underestimate God or his plans, we should join where God is already working, and we should focus daily on God's will to discern it for our lives. It also summarizes George Mueller's approach to ascertaining God's will through prayer, Scripture, circumstances, and coming to a deliberate judgment. The sermon emphasizes obeying God's will over ignoring or disobeying it.
The document is a critique of a video posted by Dave Bever on Facebook regarding the Orlando nightclub shooting. The critique argues that Dave Bever does not use scripture to support his arguments, contradicts biblical teachings on several points, and promotes a view of God that is not consistent with what is described in the Bible. The critique provides multiple Bible verses to support its position that God is portrayed in scripture as judging sin and enemies of God, rather than being a universally loving and non-judgmental deity.

This sermon discusses the sins of pride and rejoicing in the misery of others. It analyzes passages from Ezekiel that prophesy God's judgment against neighboring nations including Ammon and Tyre for these sins. The sermon defines pride as arrogance, conceit, and self-exaltation that attributes glory due to God alone. It argues there is a difference between good pride in accomplishments and sinful pride that is rebellion against God. The sermon concludes by contrasting pride, which focuses on self-glory, with humility, which turns attention to God's glory and serving others.
The document is a 7-week Bible reading plan focused on 10 themes in the weeks leading up to Easter: forgiveness, repentance, celebration, solitude, prayer, obedience, and meditation. It provides short daily Bible passages on each theme along with instructions to read the passage slowly, reflect on words or ideas that stand out, and share them with God. The goal is to let the words sink deep into one's heart and transform their view of God as they draw closer to Jesus in the weeks before Easter.
This document provides an overview of a seminar on learning to prophesy through visions. The seminar leader believes God gives visions and dreams, but we can shut them out if we don't understand how visions work. The seminar will help attendees realize past experiences may have been revelations from God, not just imagination. Churches are sometimes reluctant to accept visions, discouraging "visionary" people. The seminar aims to provide guidance on developing the gift of visions so people can share their visions instead of leaving churches. Preparing one's senses through sanctification can lead to the spiritual realm. A vision involves supernatural appearances or revelations from God. The seminar will include quick activations to demonstrate signs and re-educating one's
1) The document is a Sunday school lesson about pursuing wisdom based on a passage from Proverbs 8:6-21. It discusses how wisdom was a communicable attribute of God given to man at creation but lost at the Fall, and God's plan to restore it.
2) It provides context on wisdom literature and examines key aspects of the passage, emphasizing that true wisdom comes from reverencing God and accepting his word.
3) The lesson argues that wisdom is not about understanding all of life's mysteries but making good decisions through trusting in God despite uncertainties.
A344 Faith without works is dead The body without soul is deadfranktsao4
I have heard before that faith without works is dead, but I didn’t think this sentence was of any importance. But I found that in front of this sentence there is "the body without soul is dead", which undoubtedly turned the following sentence that faith without works is dead into an explosive statement, because all the arguments are connected to faith, so what It is the actions God says become very important. So I thought of Matthew 7:21 which says that only those who obey the will of the Heavenly Father can enter the kingdom of heaven. However, the current path taken by the world is all about pursuing knowledge, and even opposes any observance of God’s commandments. I think that is legalism, Pharisees, but according to this verse if you want to have faith, then the relative behavior of obeying God's will must occur in order to have the hope of eternal life. A344

Romans Chapter 2; Our Consciences; Judging Others; Universalism; Why Doesn't God Save Everyone; No Partiality With God; God’s Common Grace; God Alone Is Good; Our Thoughts; Where Does The Name Come From?; Infant Baptism; Praise Of Men
This document discusses how Christians should receive God's word. It says we should receive it attentively, reverently, honestly, inquiringly, personally, obediently, prayerfully, diligently, and hopefully. Some key points made include: we must pay close attention to God's word; examine it carefully against scripture; apply it to our own lives; and obey it, not just hear it. We are also told to pray for the effective spread of the gospel and to approach God's word with diligence and eagerness, maintaining the hope of eternal life as our motivation.
Breaking points, we all have them and must learn how to handle them. In this lesson we examine Moses. Both audio and slides can be enjoyed at www.cmcoc.org Sermon by: Brian Birdow
The document provides 5 steps to avoid temptation: 1) Recognize your tendency to sin and expect temptation, 2) Run away from temptation and God will be faithful, 3) Resist temptation with the word of God by reading the Bible daily, 4) Refocus on praise when tempted to strengthen your resistance, 5) Repent quickly if you fail and flee from sin as instructed in various Bible passages. The overall message is that through recognizing, resisting, and refocusing on God, one can avoid giving in to temptation by applying these Bible-based steps.
Knowledge makes people arrogant. This concept seems to be completely different from the world’s thinking. If I learn more, then I should know the breadth of knowledge. I should be like a learned person, and I should be more humble. But why the Bible said so, if this is a truth that violates the rules of the world. In this chapter, let us carefully look for the truth of the Bible for detail analysis.

Lucid Dreaming: Understanding the Risks and Benefits
The ability to control one's dreams or for the dreamer to be aware that he or she is dreaming. This process, called lucid dreaming, has some potential risks as well as many fascinating benefits. However, many people are hesitant to try it initially for fear of the potential dangers. This article aims to clarify these concerns by exploring both the risks and benefits of lucid dreaming.
The Benefits of Lucid Dreaming
Lucid dreaming allows a person to take control of their dream world, helping them overcome their fears and eliminate nightmares. This technique is particularly useful for mental health. By taking control of their dreams, individuals can face challenging scenarios in a controlled environment, which can help reduce anxiety and increase self-confidence.
Addressing Common Concerns
Physical Harm in Dreams Lucid dreaming is fundamentally safe. In a lucid dream, everything is a creation of your mind. Therefore, nothing in the dream can physically harm you. Despite the vividness and realness of the dream experience, it remains entirely within your mental landscape, posing no physical danger.
Mental Health Risks Concerns about developing PTSD or other mental illnesses from lucid dreaming are unfounded. As soon as you wake up, it's clear that the events experienced in the dream were not real. On the contrary, lucid dreaming is often seen as a therapeutic tool for conditions like PTSD, as it allows individuals to reframe and manage their thoughts.
Potential Risks of Lucid Dreaming
While generally safe, lucid dreaming does come with a few risks as well:
Mixing Dream Memories with Reality Long-term lucid dreamers might occasionally confuse dream memories with real ones, creating false memories. This issue is rare and preventable by maintaining a dream journal and avoiding lucid dreaming about real-life people or places too frequently.
Escapism Using lucid dreaming to escape reality can be problematic if it interferes with your daily life. While it is sometimes beneficial to escape and relieve the stress of reality, relying on lucid dreaming for happiness can hinder personal growth and productivity.
Feeling Tired After Lucid Dreaming Some people report feeling tired after lucid dreaming. This tiredness is not due to the dreams themselves but often results from not getting enough sleep or using techniques that disrupt sleep patterns. Taking breaks and ensuring adequate sleep can prevent this.
Mental Exhaustion Lucid dreaming can be mentally taxing if practiced excessively without breaks. It’s important to balance lucid dreaming with regular sleep to avoid mental fatigue.
Lucid dreaming is safe and beneficial if done with caution. It has many benefits, such as overcoming fear and improving mental health, and minimal risks. There are many resources and tutorials available for those interested in trying it.
Astronism, Cosmism and Cosmodeism: the space religions espousing the doctrine...Cometan
This lecture created by Brandon Taylorian (aka Cometan) specially for the CESNUR Conference held Bordeaux in June 2024 provides a brief introduction to the legacy of religious and philosophical thought that Astronism emerges from, namely the discourse on transcension started assuredly by the Cosmists in Russia in the mid-to-late nineteenth century and then carried on and developed by Mordecai Nessyahu in Cosmodeism in the twentieth century. Cometan also then provides some detail on his story in founding Astronism in the early twenty-first century from 2013 along with details on the central Astronist doctrine of transcension. Finally, the lecture concludes with some contributions made by space religions and space philosophy and their influences on various cultural facets in art, literature and film.

The Book of Revelation, filled with symbolic and apocalyptic imagery, presents one of its most striking visions in Revelation 9:3-12—the locust army. Understanding the significance of this locust army provides insight into the broader themes of divine judgment, protection, and the ultimate triumph of God’s will as depicted in Revelation.
Lição 12: João 15 a 17 – O Espírito Santo e a Oração Sacerdotal | 2° Trimestr...OmarBarrezueta1
God calls us to a journey of worshiping Him. In this journey you will encounter different obstacles and derailments that will want to sway you from worshiping God. You got to be intentional in breaking the barriers staged on your way of worship in order to offer God acceptable worship.

PHASE-IV
The very deep experience of silence helps to expand from the 3 - dimensional awareness of the body to all pervasive awareness. The bed of silence becomes deeper and more expansive - an ocean of silence with waves on it merge into complete silence called Ajapa state of the mind. This silence is the source of Creativity, Power, Knowledge and Bliss.
PHASE V
From this deep ocean of silence in the heart region, let one OM emerge as an audible sound which diffuses into the entire body and the space all around. Enjoy the beautiful vibrations.
Blink the eyes slowly, gently open the eyes and come out of meditation.
Introduction
Mantra Yoga is an exact science. "Mananat trayate iti mantrah- by the Manana (constant thinking or recollection) of which one is protected or is released from the round of births and deaths, is Mantra." That is called Mantra by the meditation (Manana) on which the Jiva or the individual soul attains freedom from sin, enjoyment in heaven and final liberation, and by the aid of which it attains in full the fourfold fruit (Chaturvarga), i.e., Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha. A Mantra is so called because it is achieved by the mental process.

"Where have I ever spoken a word?"
1. “WHERE HAVE
I EVER SPOKEN
A WORD?”
RIGHTLY INTERPRETING THE
SILENCE OF SCRIPTURES
2. GOOD TO BE REMINDED,
LEST WE FORGET
“For this reason I will not be negligent to remind you
always of these things, though you know and are
established in the present truth. Yes, I think it is
right, as long as I am in this tent, to stir you up by
reminding you” (II Peter 1:12-13)
“Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. For me to
write the same things to you is not tedious, but
for you it is safe. Beware of dogs, beware of evil
workers, beware of the mutilation!” (Philippians 3:12)
3. GOOD TO BE REMINDED,
BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE
“My hindsight is clearer than my foresight! I am in no
position to boast, because I was not among the wise ones
who saw the danger … at first. … We failed to do that
which should have been done very effectively in those
early days. … Enough teaching before … could have
immunized the church against … substitutes for God‟s
pattern. We had the opportunity; but, in our simple
ignorance, we failed in this significant way. … Our
opportunity to do effective teaching was before the
powerful machines were set up and thrown into high gear.
… The floodgate was opened, and none could close it. It
has not been closed, and it will not be closed in time …”
(Preaching In A Changing World, Irven P. Lee, p.43-44)
4. GOOD TO BE REMINDED,
LEST WE STUMBLE
“I have been a member of a ‘Church of Christ’ for over 20
years. However, I am beginning to have my doubts. For
example, the following question is fundamental because
several of the traditions that we are very dogmatic about
depend on this teaching. … Is Biblical silence prohibitive? I
believe that we have missed the point on this topic.”
“If this so-called „law of silence‟ were to be followed
„religiously,‟ then our PA systems, Powerpoint usage, song
books, and other things which we commonly use in
worship would all be outlawed. It really is time to apply some
common sense to this „law,‟ and the way it is applied by so
many. ...”
“You would think someone who is so interested in following the
New Testament Pattern would have followed it … Does the
Bible authorize a church to have a Facebook page? …”
5. CENI AND CHURCHES OF CHRIST
• Command
• Example, Approved Apostolic
• Necessary Inference or Conclusion
If anyone thinks himself to be a prophet or
spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things which I
write to you are the commandments of the Lord. (I
Cor. 14:37)
• Bible commands us to follow approved NT
examples (Philippians 3:17; 4:9; II Thess. 3:7; I
Cor. 11:1).
• Bible exemplifies using necessary inference
(Mathew 19:3-8; 22:23-33; Acts 2:25-36; II
Samuel 7:1-7; Heb. 7:11-14)
6. “CASTING DOWN ARGUMENTS”
6
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war
according to the flesh. For the weapons of our
warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling
down strongholds, casting down arguments and
every high thing that exalts itself against the
knowledge of God, bringing every thought into
captivity to the obedience of Christ … (II
Corinthians 10:3-5)
7. WHAT IS THE QUESTION?
• Silence – What does it mean? Here’s MerriamWebster:
1. forbearance from speech or noise
2. absence of sound or noise
3. absence of mention
• Occurrence – Some things are not specifically
mentioned in Scripture!
• Interpretation – Does God’s silence prohibit or
permit?
• By Definition – Silence means nothing, because it
is nothing!
8. WHAT IS THE QUESTION?
• Conclusion – Erroneous to presume that God’s
silence necessitates His approval or authority.
Silence cannot authorize!
• Silence does not inherently prohibit!
• Silence does not inherently permit!
• Specification, God‟s specificity defines limits
and bounds!
• Demonstration – One inspired example can
eliminate presumption.
• Misnomer – Is God ever truly and absolutely silent
on any matter?
9. DO NOT PRESUME!
• “Whatever I command you, be careful to observe
it; you shall not add to it nor take away from it.”
(Deuteronomy 12:32; 4:2; Joshua 1:7; 23:6;
Proverbs 4:26-27; 30:5-6; Revelation 22:18-19)
• “… learn in us not to think beyond what is
written, that none of you may be puffed up on
behalf of one against the other.” (I Corinthians 4:6;
Numbers 22:18; 24:13; II John 9; Mat. 7:21-23)
• “My covenant I will not break, Nor alter the word
that has gone out of My lips.” (Psalm 89:34;
Galatians 3:15; Matthew 5:18-19; John 10:35-36;
I Peter 1:22-25; Galatians 1:6-9)
10. “WHERE HAVE I EVER
SPOKEN A WORD?”
• David was declared by God to be “a man after His
own heart” (I Samuel 13:14)
• Often exhibited the noblest of intentions (I Samuel
24:1-22; I Chronicles 11:18-19; 21:22-25)
• “Walk in My ways, to keep My statutes and My
commandments, as your father David walked …” (I
Kings 3:14; 9:4; 11:4-6; II Kings 22:2; II
Chronicles 7:17; 17:3-4; 34:2-3)
• But, he was not perfect (II Samuel 11:1-12:23) –
even presumptuous on occasion (I Chronicles
13:1-14; 15:1-15; II Samuel 6:1-8)
11. “WHERE HAVE I EVER
SPOKEN A WORD?”
“Now it came to pass when the king was dwelling in
his house, and the LORD had given him rest from all
his enemies all around, that the king said to Nathan
the prophet, “See now, I dwell in a house of
cedar, but the ark of God dwells inside tent
curtains.” Then Nathan said to the king, “Go, do all
that is in your heart, for the LORD is with you.” But
it happened that night that the word of the LORD
came to Nathan, saying, “Go and tell My servant
David, „Thus says the LORD: “Would you build a
house for Me to dwell in? For I have not dwelt in a
house since the time that I brought the children of
Israel …”
12. “WHERE HAVE I EVER
SPOKEN A WORD?”
“… up from Egypt, even to this day, but have
moved about in a tent and in a tabernacle.
Wherever I have moved about with all the children
of Israel, have I ever spoken a word to anyone
from the tribes of Israel, whom I commanded to
shepherd My people Israel, saying, ‘Why have you
not built Me a house of cedar?’ ”‟” (II Samuel 7:1-7)
• Compare to the Pattern – Exodus 25:9-27:21 – no
prohibiting verse!
• God had been silent!
• David was corrected for presuming on God’s
silence.
13. ANSWERING OBJECTIONS:
DAVID’S GOOD HEART
• “David was commended, not condemned for this attitude!”
“But the LORD said to my father David, „Whereas it was in
your heart to build a temple for My name, you did well that it
was in your heart. Nevertheless you shall not build the
temple, but your son who will come from your body, he shall
build the temple for My name.‟” (I Kings 8:18-19)
• David sought the Lord’s glory – not His own (“for My name”)
• Regardless, it was contrary to God’s will (“you shall not build
the temple”) – Good intentions do not justify!
• Ultimately succeeded in bringing the ark to Jerusalem (I
Chronicles 15:1-16:43)
• But, failed at first, “because we did not consult Him about
the proper order” (I Chronicles 15:13)
• Good intentions may err grossly if they ignore the “proper
order”!
14. ANSWERING OBJECTIONS:
DAVID’S BLESSING
• “David was blessed by God in this context (II Samuel
7:8-17)”
• However, that blessing did not justify any of his
mistakes, much less his sins
(Bathsheba, Uriah, numbering the people)
• “Test all things; hold fast what is good” (I Thess.
5:21-22)
• The blessing does not erase God’s correction!
• Neither, David nor God link God’s blessing to David’s
desire.
• Furthermore, David was chosen by God before and
apart from His desire to build the temple (II Samuel
7:8-9; I Samuel 13:14)
• David’s desire to build a house for God was
coincidental, providing the occasion to reveal God
was building David a house.
15. “WHAT GOD HAS JOINED,
LET NOT MAN SEPARATE …”
The Pharisees also came to Him, testing Him, and saying to
Him, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for just any
reason?” And He answered and said to them, “Have you not
read that He who made them at the beginning ‘made them
male and female,‟ and said, „For this reason a man shall
leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and
the two shall become one flesh‟? So then, they are no longer
two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined
together, let not man separate. They said to Him, “Why then
did Moses command to give a certificate of divorce, and to put
her away?” He said to them, “Moses, because of the hardness
of your hearts, permitted you to divorce your wives, but from
the beginning it was not so.” (Matthew 19:3-8)
• Compare to the Pattern – Genesis 1:27; 2:18-24 – No
prohibiting verse!
16. ANSWERING OBJECTIONS:
A DIRECT VIOLATION?
• “Divorce directly violates command to join or
cleave!”
• This assumes the pattern must be observed
indefinitely.
• Where does God say to be joined for life?
• What keeps a man from being joined to one wife
and then to another and then to another …?
• The revealed pattern excludes divorce until God
reveals otherwise.
• Jesus’ logic embodies the attitude of respecting
God’s pattern and rejecting authority upon silence!
17. “HOUSES TO EAT AND DRINK IN?”
Therefore when you come together in one place, it
is not to eat the Lord’s Supper. For in eating, each
one takes his own supper ahead of others; and one is
hungry and another is drunk. What! Do you not have
houses to eat and drink in? Or do you despise the
church of God and shame those who have nothing?
What shall I say to you? Shall I praise you in this? I
do not praise you. ... Therefore, my brethren, when
you come together to eat, wait for one another. But if
anyone is hungry, let him eat at home, lest you
come together for judgment. And the rest I will set
in order when I come. (I Cor. 11:20-22, 33-34)
• Where does the pattern prohibit eating a common
supper?
18. “HOUSES TO EAT AND DRINK IN?”
For I received from the Lord that which I also
delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same
night in which He was betrayed took bread; and when
He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat;
this is My body which is broken for you; do this in
remembrance of Me.” In the same manner He also
took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the
new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you
drink it, in remembrance of Me.” For as often as
you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim
the Lord's death till He comes. (I Corinthians 11:2326)
• Where are common meals prohibited?
19. ANSWERING OBJECTIONS
• “The Corinthians exhibited a multitude of problems:
selfishness, divisiveness, drunkenness, etc.”
• These sins are not approved in any location (II
Corinthians 8:13-15; Acts 2:44-45; 4:34-35; I
Corinthians 1:10; Galatians 5:19-21)!
• So, how does relocating the meals solve those
problems?
• “The Corinthians were not adding but replacing!”
• Then, why did Paul not add back what was
missing?
• “Fellowship meals were authorized (Acts 2:42, 46;
20:7, 9; Jude 12)”
• Refer to individual acts of hospitality and the Lord’s
Supper.
20. OTHER EXAMPLES
• God’s promise to “seed”, singular, not
“seeds”, plural (Galatians 3:15-17; Genesis 22:18)
– Requires addition to misunderstand.
• Jews added commerce to temple’s mission of
payer (Mark 11:15-17; Isaiah 56:7; Jeremiah
7:11).
