This poem is addressed to someone who is old and reflects by the fire. It encourages the person to read the poem slowly and dream of how their eyes used to look in their youth, and of the many people who loved their beauty, whether truly or falsely, but one man loved the person's soul. As the person bends by the fire, the poem murmurs how love has fled and paces upon the mountains overhead.
