What Drives Your Life?
• Guilt
– God specializes in giving people a fresh start.
– “Blessed is he whose transgressions are forgiven,
whose sins are covered.” (Psalm 31:1 KJV)
• Resentment and Anger
– Those who hurt you in the past cannot continue to
hurt you now unless you allow them to.
• “Resentment kills a fool, and envy slays the
simple.” (Job 5:2)
What Drives Your Life?
• Fear
– Fear is a self—imposed prison that will keep you
from being what God intends for you to be.
– “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out
fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The
one who fears is not made perfect in love.” (1 John
4:18 NKJV)
What Drives Your Life?
• Materialism
– Your value is not determined by things, God
says the most valuable things in life are not
things!
• The Need for Approval
– Being controlled by the opinions of others is a
guaranteed way to miss God’s purposes for
your life.
Know Your Purpose
• Knowing your purpose gives meaning to
your life.
– Without God, life has no purpose, and without
purpose, life has no meaning.
– “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares
the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to
harm you, plans to give you hope and a
future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
Know Your Purpose
• Knowing your purpose simplifies your life.
– You will constantly ask, “Does this activity
help me fulfill one of God’s purposes for my
life?”
– “You will keep in perfect peace him whose
mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you.”
(Isaiah 26:3)
Know Your Purpose
• Knowing your purpose focuses your life.
– You become effective by being selective.
– “Therefore do not be unwise, but understand
what the will of the Lord is.” (Ephesians 5:17)
Focus, Focus, Focus
• “Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have
taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting
what is behind and straining toward what is
ahead, 14I press on toward the goal to win the
prize for which God has called me heavenward
in Christ Jesus. 15All of us who are mature
should take such a view of things.” (Philippians
3:13—15a)
Know Your Purpose
• Knowing your purpose motivates your life.
• Knowing your purpose prepares you for
eternity.
• We must use our time to build an eternal
legacy.
Final Exam Time
• You weren’t put on earth to be remembered.
– One day you will stand before God to give an
account of your life.
– “For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of
Christ. 11For it is written: “As I live, says the Lord,
Every knee shall bow to Me, And every tongue shall
confess to God.” 12So then each of us shall give
account of himself to God.” (Romans 14:10b—12
NKJV)
What Will Your Answer Be?

Son, Jesus Christ?”
