K-9s 4 Schools aims to place therapy dogs in schools to address behavior issues and improve student outcomes. Prior programs using therapy dogs have found benefits like increased confidence, motivation, focus, and reading skills for struggling readers. Therapy dogs have also helped patients in hospitals experience less anxiety and higher blood pressure and immune responses. In detention centers, therapy dogs make youth less defiant and more cooperative. Service dogs provide similar benefits to children with disabilities and veterans with disabilities like confidence, reduced stress, and independence. Training service dogs in prisons teaches inmates life skills and reduces recidivism to 0%. K-9s 4 Schools hopes to achieve these outcomes in schools by using dogs to intercept behaviors, welcome students, and change discipline approaches for improved
