Users In The Mist: Stories from Field Studies (Brad Nunnally)Future Insights
Field Studies are great learning opportunities to capture personal details about people and their environments. This activity provides challenges though, like when you find yourself in an uncomfortable position due to an offhand comment or if you notice something about their environment that is a danger. Over the course of my career, I’ve had the opportunity to conduct field studies where sensitive information was the focus and odd, or unexpected, situations came up. Based on my experiences, I’ve put together lessons learned that can help practitioners prepare for performing fields studies, and also provide warning signs for when things start to go awry. These lessons will be given as parables to interviews I’ve conducted with people around dinner tables around the country. These stories range from the humorous to the slightly disturbing. And each has a unique message to tell that will help designers, new and old, prepare for field studies of their own.

AN IMPROVED ITERATIVE METHOD FOR SOLVING GENERAL SYSTEM OF EQUATIONS VIA GENE...Zac Darcy
Various algorithms are known for solving linear system of equations. Iteration methods for solving the
large sparse linear systems are recommended. But in the case of general n× m matrices the classic
iterative algorithms are not applicable except for a few cases. The algorithm presented here is based on the
minimization of residual of solution and has some genetic characteristics which require using Genetic
Algorithms. Therefore, this algorithm is best applicable for construction of parallel algorithms. In this
paper, we describe a sequential version of proposed algorithm and present its theoretical analysis.
Moreover we show some numerical results of the sequential algorithm and supply an improved algorithm
and compare the two algorithms.

In this paper, we present a new signature scheme based on factoring and discrete logarithm problems.

It's that time of year you put your interview skills into high gear. Here's a keynote presentation I delivered in 2018. "How to Master Your Interviews".
A team is more than an aggregation of individuals, it is a unique human organism. Regardless of the task or context, it is about relationships, authenticity, and surrendering. Goals, timelines, measures and results are mere accessories—useful, but not the point.
In this Team and Work Group Coaching Community of Practice webinar, Peter Block makes the distinction between individual, team, and system work. Furthermore, he shares how to create awareness so that a sense of belonging can quickly be produced; in particular, he notes how asking questions which people do not know how to defend against can break down these barriers. Also, he claims it calls for coaches to be less helpful, but more curious because answers tend to keep people apart and questions can bring them together. Lastly, he highlights what the role of the team coach should be in this complex and sensitive field of activities. Participants of this presentation will gain a deep insight into the essence (heart) of relatedness, belonging, and collect awareness which are the key elements for making teams authetic and most successful.
This webinar took place on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at 11:00am ET. For more information about this Community of Practice visit it's LinkedIn page at https://www.linkedin.com/groups/5008300.

16. Ask yourself why you
didn’t achieve what you

imagining the moment when you get
to check off the box and say “YES.”

23. Missed goals are, naturally, downers.
You don’t get to celebrate for clearing the
bar you set for yourself.

24. But as dispiriting as it may feel initially, the
moment you realized you missed your goals is a
strong learning moment.
You can glean valuable insights if you take
pause and review why it happened.
s e c o n d b r e a k s
25. Sweeping it under the rug and focusing on a
newer, more exciting plan for the next year may
feel more positive.
But by going there immediately, you’ll likely
miss the chance to pick up key insights that
would be helpful for your next time at bat.
