Drupal 8 introduced significant changes beyond just code updates. There were major cultural shifts towards an iterative development process, clearer leadership structure, and initiatives to improve user experiences like media and content workflows. Process changes like semantic versioning and a 6-month release cycle were also implemented. While code changes focused on configuration management and multilingual support, the cultural and process changes aim to make Drupal development more inclusive, transparent, and aligned with modern web building trends.

We build ourselfs some big communities for clients like the UN, Greenpeace, the Dutch Government and others. All of this clients have a very specific profile and very specific needs. All of them are from different sectors: From NGOs, to Goverment organizations, Voluntary platforms, learning platforms and much more. As well all of our clients have at core a community the goals of the community and the key features for them to reach those goals are different every time. As much as we can rely on the distribution to cover the basics and a even more, every client is different and most bigger communities needs customizations to make the step from a good to a great community.
With every new client new challenges arise. With this talk I want to share some of the insights we gathered over the last 3 years, talk about how to navigate the pitfalls of customizing a Distribution and show how we fit different platforms to the specific requirements of different clients.

Migrate all the things!
The new Migrate module in Drupal 8 core is great for upgrading sites from Drupal 6 to Drupal 8. But it's useful for a lot more than just that! Migrate adds the power of any external tool to your content workflow.
Not every client is accustomed to using Drupal. Some clients might like Google Spreadsheets; others prefer Markdown files in version control. Using Migrate, you can let your clients use their preferred content building tools—even before you have a Drupal site ready for them! I'll talk about my experiences with several different Migrate-based workflows that we've used at Evolving Web.
There's already information out there about building migrations, but most of it focuses on very limited use cases: direct upgrades, or simple nodes. I'll cover many other bits and pieces you need for real-life migration projects, including:
* Hierarchical menus
* Paths and redirects
* Multilingual data
* Files and images
* Merging multiple migrations
* Writing custom migration sources and transformations
* Figuring out why your migration isn't working
Attendees with some PHP experience will get the most out of this talk—but many parts will be interesting to site builders and project managers as well.
Hydra Project Management Survey
The survey results show that Hydra projects have an average team size of 6 people. Agile Scrum is the most commonly used methodology. Jira and GitHub are popular tools for managing requirements and source control. The main benefits of Hydra cited are the active community for sharing knowledge and best practices, and the reusable technology including Ruby on Rails and Fedora. The biggest challenges are obtaining resources and avoiding technical debt as the software evolves.

This presentation, delivered at DevOps Days Austin 2022, traces the evolution of DevOps -- its tools, technology, leaders and contributors -- from 2012 to 2022. The presented content is drawn from over 40 video interviews I conducted at the event starting in 2012. Cited interviews include those with Andrew Clay Shafer, Patrick Debois, Damon Edwards, John Willis, Michael Cote, Nick Galbreath, Christian Beedgen, Alexis LeQuoc and Jason Hansen (links to the interviews are embedded in the slides).
The retrospective shows how the Austin event provided an early glimpse at startups that would grow into key DevOps players as well as concepts that years later would become part of the vernacular. (Datadog, now valued at over $40B, was still in private beta when they participated in 2012 and the term “DevSecOps” which was presented at that same event wouldn’t show up in Google searches for another four years). A key theme throughout the presentation is how over the years the defining characteristic of DevOps has been pulled back and forth between culture and technology, and how the lack of a crisp definition has hampered adoption.

Hydra Project Management Survey
The survey results show that Hydra projects have an average team size of 6 people. Agile Scrum is the most commonly used methodology. Jira and GitHub are popular tools for managing requirements and source control. The main benefits of Hydra cited are the active community for sharing knowledge and best practices, and the reusable technology including Ruby on Rails and Fedora. The biggest challenges are obtaining resources and avoiding technical debt as the software evolves.

This presentation, delivered at DevOps Days Austin 2022, traces the evolution of DevOps -- its tools, technology, leaders and contributors -- from 2012 to 2022. The presented content is drawn from over 40 video interviews I conducted at the event starting in 2012. Cited interviews include those with Andrew Clay Shafer, Patrick Debois, Damon Edwards, John Willis, Michael Cote, Nick Galbreath, Christian Beedgen, Alexis LeQuoc and Jason Hansen (links to the interviews are embedded in the slides).
The retrospective shows how the Austin event provided an early glimpse at startups that would grow into key DevOps players as well as concepts that years later would become part of the vernacular. (Datadog, now valued at over $40B, was still in private beta when they participated in 2012 and the term “DevSecOps” which was presented at that same event wouldn’t show up in Google searches for another four years). A key theme throughout the presentation is how over the years the defining characteristic of DevOps has been pulled back and forth between culture and technology, and how the lack of a crisp definition has hampered adoption.

Planning for CRAP and entity revisions in Drupal core
This is a follow-up on the core conversations in Los Angeles that recived lots of positive feedback when suggesting improvements to the Entity Revision API in core.
In this session we will lay out a more concrete and detailed plan of how we can introduce these improvements in Drupal 8.2.x or 9.x.
Short background on the topic
CRAP stands for Create Read Archive Purge which implies that all changes to an entity creates a new revision, even a delete operation is a new revision (much like Git does it). This creates a system much more capable of managing complex workflows, concurrent editing, distributed content, content staging, audit trails etc.

Let's face it, content staging will never make it into core, there isn't one way to do it for everyone. But the lowest common denominators for any content staging, replication or syndication solution are revisions and CRAP - Create Read Archive Purge!
Drupal 8 have already brought us a really solid Entity API with good revision support. The Multiversion module takes this even further in contrib.
In this session some compelling arguments will be laid out for why we need revisions and a Create Read Archive Purge storage for all content entities in core! We weren't wrong when we identified this back in 2011 as the future of Drupal, we just need to do it!
A concrete and actionable plan for how we can implement this will also be introduced.
Let's Take Drupal Offline!
This document discusses designing websites to work offline. It argues that offline experiences should not be treated as errors, and that offline capabilities provide benefits like privacy, security, performance and robustness. Modern techniques like service workers, app caching, CouchDB and PouchDB enable offline-first websites. The document proposes that Drupal 8 could provide a remote database backend using its REST API and modules like Relaxed and Replication, allowing frontend apps to access content offline using standard synchronization tools.

This session is targeted towards site builders where we will continue to explore the content staging solution that is being built for Drupal 8 and that was initially presented in Austin. It's a solution that brings vast improvements to sites owners that need to stage or replicate content across sites.
Further, site builders will learn how this solution also applies to broader and sometimes more exciting use cases - content sharing and filtered replication across networks of sites and applications.

Temporal Event Neural Networks (TENNs), developed by BrainChip, represent a novel and highly efficient state-space network. TENNs demonstrate exceptional proficiency in handling multi-dimensional streaming data, facilitating advancements in object detection, action recognition, speech enhancement and language model/sequence generation. Through the utilization of polynomial-based continuous convolutions, TENNs streamline models, expedite training processes and significantly diminish memory requirements, achieving notable reductions of up to 50x in parameters and 5,000x in energy consumption compared to prevailing methodologies like transformers.

zkStudyClub - LatticeFold: A Lattice-based Folding Scheme and its Application...
Folding is a recent technique for building efficient recursive SNARKs. Several elegant folding protocols have been proposed, such as Nova, Supernova, Hypernova, Protostar, and others. However, all of them rely on an additively homomorphic commitment scheme based on discrete log, and are therefore not post-quantum secure. In this work we present LatticeFold, the first lattice-based folding protocol based on the Module SIS problem. This folding protocol naturally leads to an efficient recursive lattice-based SNARK and an efficient PCD scheme. LatticeFold supports folding low-degree relations, such as R1CS, as well as high-degree relations, such as CCS. The key challenge is to construct a secure folding protocol that works with the Ajtai commitment scheme. The difficulty, is ensuring that extracted witnesses are low norm through many rounds of folding. We present a novel technique using the sumcheck protocol to ensure that extracted witnesses are always low norm no matter how many rounds of folding are used. Our evaluation of the final proof system suggests that it is as performant as Hypernova, while providing post-quantum security.
