Triangular Theory of Love
Intimacy – Which encompasses feelings of attachment, closeness,
connectedness, and bondedness.
Passion –Which encompasses drives connected to both obsession and
sexual attraction.
Commitment – Which encompasses, in the short term, the decision to
remain with another, and in the long term, the shared achievements and
plans made with that other.
Non-love – simply casual interactions
Liking – close bonds of friendship
Infatuated Love – passion without intimacy or commitment
Empty Love – like an arranged marriage
Romantic Love – two people are bonded intimately and passionately
Companionate Love – like a long term marriage, commitment and
intimacy without the passion
Fatuous Love – a commitment is made on the basis of passion
Consummate Love – a complete form of love; the “perfect couple”
