In this presentation, I have explained what is CCTLD and what are the various reasons organisations must use CCTLD domains. It has also been explained how ccTLD can be used as a competitive measure for organisations. The ccTLDs and their importance for business have also been explained.
2. ccTLDs or country-codeTLDs show visitors the country in which the website was
registered or the country or region for which the website is intended.
It is a top level domain name used for specific countries or geographical area.
3. According to Moz…
When a site uses a ccTLD, Google assumes that site (and all the content on it) is specifically
relevant to the geographic area targeted by the ccTLD and should appear on SERPs in that area..
4. • Ex:
• www.example.fr ( France)
• www.example.co.uk ( United Kingdom)
• www.example.com.eu ( European Union)

of-every-country-domain/
5. ccTLDs show to the search engines that the website content is
meant for a specific country or region.
6. If your product/service is meant for a specific region or country,
ccTLDs are very useful as they help you rank in the SERP of the
searches of those countries.
7. Example: I just typed in washing machine + UK.The search results
shows
8.
9. So, the majority of the results have (co.Uk) country extension or are ccTLDs, it
implies that ccTLDs have more weightage on SERP in country-specific or region-
specific searches.
11. REASON 1
You are able to rank in the SERP of specific country or region based search and
can ace the SERP results in the region where you are selling your products
12. Now, if you have businesses globally, should you go in for ccTLDs?
Yes, besides the (.com) extension, you need to have country-specific
ccTLDs.
REASON 2
13. Important: Let us consider your website to be example.com, selling books.
Now, people searching for your company in their regions may most of the time
visit a ccTLD domain example.co.uk.
Most of the time people remember the brand’s name, not the extensions.
So, if your competitor is owning that domain, he is divulging a part of the traffic
or blocking it, that was meant for your brand.
14. • So, while buying domain names for your international business or business that
you have thought of establishing internationally, also buy the ccTLDs of the
same for the countries or the regions where you want to expand.
Maybe you do not use those domain names but at least it will block your
competitors from playing with any part of the traffic meant for your brand.
This is especially true in a hyper-competitive online competition between two
brands catering to the same target audience
15. • It can be quite expensive to create different ccTLD websites.
• So in most cases, you can redirect to your .com website or just create
subdirectories /subdomains to direct users to their required page
16. Benefit : ccTLDs allow you to bring out your creativity
• A neat trick that some companies have been using to build a strong brand around their domain
name is using what’s known as a domain hack.
• This is when a word or name is formed using both the domain name and ccTLD together.
• For example, beach.es uses the Spanish ccTLD, food.ie uses the Ireland ccTLD,
and subscri.be uses the Belgium ccTLD. It can even be a phrase or call to action
like check.in or help.us
