1. What is a memory
Memory is the most essential component of a computing system, it is used by the CPU
to hold data and instructions through processing. Memory is used to run any program
There are two types of memory
primary memory
Primary memory is the main memory of the computer which is used to run programs
and keep all the data and instructions for a short period of time.
Primary memory is also volatile memory which means that if the computer gives power
to it then it gives all the information.
secondary memory
Secondary memory is of permanent type and it is used to store information for some
time. Generally, secondary memory is of some capacity.
Definition of 'Ram' (Random access memory)
ram is a primary memory, in ram, the data and instructions of the current tasks are
stored by the cpu, this memory is part of the cpu.
Types of Ram
There are two types of Ram
● SRAM (static random access memory)
● DRAM (dynamic random access memory)
Definition of 'Rom'(Read only memory)
2. It is a permanent memory in which the stored memory and program do not get erased
even when there is no power supply or even when the computer is turned off, ROM is
called non-volatile memory.
Types of Rom
There are three types of Rom
● PROM
● EPROM
● EEPROM
