This document summarizes a passage from the Gospel of Mark about what it means to follow Jesus. It identifies three key essentials: 1) having the right view of Jesus as the Christ and Son of God, 2) adopting a new orientation in life centered around Jesus rather than oneself, and 3) understanding the basic law of spiritual economics that any sacrifices made for Jesus in this life will be outweighed by eternal rewards. The document uses examples from the Gospel passage and other Bible verses to explain these three essentials of following Christ.

Winning is the American way... We are obsessed with it, whether is our favorite sports team, political figure, war etc... You name it, as Americans if it can be dominated, we want to do it...
Unless it's us.
This mentality, however, flies in the face of the Gospel of Christ.
In Mark 8:34-36 Jesus said “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel's will save it. For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?
To win, we have to lose.

This week we finish up our theme series for the year: We exist to enjoy and share the love and message of God with everyone. This week we look at "everyone." Some people in our lives are difficult. But it is important to remember that people matter to God. EVERYONE matters to God, and THAT should matter to us.
https://birminghamchurch.org.uk - Lesson by Roger Frimpong. God is love and God is holy. When a loving God meets sinful humans this love becomes grace. When a holy God meets sinful humans it becomes wrath. God saves us from his holy wrath through Jesus Christ.

So far in our series we've seen the theme of the Kingdom of God is one that runs through the entire story of the Bible and that the kingdom is something other than what we would expect of a worldly kingdom. Today we are going to see just how it is that Jesus came to be the king of this kingdom.

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.
