WESLEY WRIGHT is the Senior Vice President and General Manager at American Express Company. As
SVP of Global Product Development & International Marketing at American Express, Wesley is
responsible for bringing to market the company’s digital payment and prepaid solutions. In this position,
Wesley manages product development, international marketing, business development, and strategy for
prepaid products globally. He recently led the launch of Bluebird, a debit and checking alternative
released in partnership with Walmart. He has also managed the expansion of prepaid options into new
markets including Brazil, China, India, and the UK. Over the course of his career at American Express,
Wesley has held several various positions including the General Manager of Prepaid Travel and General
Manager for the Americas prepaid business. He began his career at American Express over ten years ago
in the Strategic Planning Group. Wesley’s previous experiences include management consulting with
McKinsey, banking with Brown Brothers Harriman and Morgan Stanley, and business development for
an e-commerce startup. Wesley received his BA from Princeton University and MBA from the University
of Virginia’s Darden School. He lives in New York City with his wife and two sons.
