Kirk M. Chewning earned a bachelor's degree in finance from Michigan State University and has had a varied 20-year career in financial services. He has held positions as a vice president at a top global bank and as executive vice president at a leading technology solutions firm, helping the latter grow from three partners to over 120. Chewning currently serves as a partner and CEO/controller at Cane Bay Partners, with responsibilities including underwriting, portfolio risk management, and financial controls. In his spare time, he teaches business skills at colleges and enjoys bowling in his home of St. Croix.

Before becoming a top financial professional, Kirk M. Chewning earned a bachelor’s degree in
finance Michigan State University’s Eli Broad College of Business.
His education has led to a variety of professional opportunities, including positions as a vice
president for a top 30 global bank, senior consultant for a technology firm, and vice president of
business development and partner for a web application development firm.
Later in this career, he served as the executive vice president of TranDotCom Solutions, one of
the leaders in the technology solutions space. During his time with the company, he helped it
achieve growth from three partners to more than 120.
Chewning currently serves as a partner in Cane Bay Partners VI, LLLP, with both CEO and
controller duties accompanied by underwriting and portfolio risk management tasks.
For approximately 20 years, Chewning has been serving roles within the financial services
industry, consulting with lenders, banks, and credit unions of all sizes. In addition to financial
controls expertise, he is well versed in other areas of business including commercial lending,
technology architecture, software development, and financial modeling among others.
When Kirk Chewning Cane Bay is not in the office, he can be found teaching life and corporate
skills at colleges throughout North America. In his free time, he enjoys bowling and taking part
in other activities on St. Croix.
