In this talk you will learn several widely-applicable strategies for decomposing your monolithic application, along with their respective risks and the appropriate mitigation strategies. These techniques are widely used at Wix, took us a long time to develop and have proven consistently effective; hopefully they will help you avoid the same battle scars.

In the world of continuous delivery and cloud native, the boundaries between what is our application and what constitutes infrastructure is becoming increasing blurred. Our workloads, the containers they ship in, and our platform configuration is now often developed and deployed by the same teams, and development velocity is the key metric to success. This presents us with a challenge which the previous models of security as a final external gatekeeper step cannot keep up with. To ensure our apps and platforms are secure, we need to integrate security at all stages of our pipelines and ensure that our developers and engineering teams have tools and data with enable them to make decisions about security on an ongoing basis. In this session I will talk through the problem space, look at the kinds of security issues we need to consider, and look at where the integration points are to build in security as part of our CI/CD process.

Cloud native technology and application architecture have been influencing and disrupting the software engineering discipline for the past years and there is no end in sight. But according to Gardner we are currently entering the trough of disillusionment. So does this mean we followed the wrong path and that we should turn back? Hell no!!!
Despite of all disbelievers and trolls: cloud native is neither a failure nor a hype anymore! It will become mainstream. We already see widespread adoption at all our customers. Of course there still is a lot of room for improvement. No doubt about that. Technology, methodology, processes, operations, cloud native architecture and software development need to mature even further to become boring and ready for the enterprise. This is software industrialization in its purest form. And our skills and expertise are required to make this happen.
Gluecon keynote
1) Cloud native applications are built to take advantage of cloud computing resources like dynamically provisioned micro-services and distributed ephemeral components.
2) Netflix has transitioned to being a cloud native application built on an open source platform using AWS for scalable infrastructure, but also uses other providers for services not fully supported by AWS like content delivery and DNS.

In the past few years, deployment of applications in the cloud has become an industry standard. Meher Nori believes that it is very important for QA/testing organizations to understand the impact the cloud may have on them and prepare accordingly. The impact primarily involves a change in the testing strategy, and two items become very important. The introduction of DLAU and the CCB & CCX licensing model caused quite a stir in the HCL community.
