 Market ended the last trading week of 2011 on weak
note by shedding 2%.
 Sensex was at 15, 455 points, down 284 points from
the previous week close on the back of persistent
selling witnessed in oil & gas sector and banking
stocks.
 Concerns over the deteriorating asset quality of
banking sector led the stocks to trade on negative
region

2.  The index heavy weight, RIL touched new 52 week low by
breaking 700 mark during the week as the issues over the
production sharing contract, fall in output and contracting
refining margins have made investors to short the stocks.
 As soon as touching a year low, RIL has passed the throne
of most valued company in India to the Indian IT major TCS.
 The National economic data released during the week had
not seen any changes in the share market even though the
data was much better.
 Food Inflation during the week ended December 17
touched a six year low of 0.42% from 1.81% in the earlier
week on the back of ease in overall vegetables prices and
wheat.
 Post data, the market was further pulled down by weak
global cues.

3. • In sector wise, oil and gas sector lost 5%, banking sector
plunged 4%, marked as top losers of the week
• Mid cap and Small Cap indices were shed 1% each in the
week ended December 30, 2011.
• For the year ended December 30, 2011, Mid and Small Cap
Indices were dipped 10-15% and 20-22% respectively on
BSE.
• Meanwhile, the thirty share and fifty share indices nose-
dived by 24.6% each in 2011.
• Power firm NTPC has increased its power production
capacity to 36,014 MW after commissioning 660 MW units
at Sipal plant in Chattisgarh
• Coal Imports is likely to increase to 194 million tonne in
2017 on the back of incorporating new power plants.
• HDFC, ICICI, IDBI and PNB were increased NRE deposit rates
during the week

4. Market Outlook
 Indian market will move accordingly with the global market,
which eyes housing and unemployment data of US economy.
 The housing and unemployment data's of US economy are
expected to ease further
 Sectors such as auto and cement sector stocks would take a
further direction from the sales data for December month,
which is to be released in next week.
 Food Inflation data will be watched on coming Thursday.
