3. MARKET WRAP
Nifty and Sensex were closed red; gained 0.94%, 1.08% respectively this week.
Existing Home Sales was at 4.79M and US Unemployment Claims at 410K.
US & Euro markets were green; Asian markets too were also green last week.
Indian markets ended with gain on Friday wiping out almost half of previous day’s loss,
gain in major sectors like Auto, IT, Media & FMCG closed green. Top gainers in the
Market were Jet Airways, Blue Dart Express, Ece Industries, Eros International Media,
The earnings season is well underway, & will vie for investors’ attention in the coming
week as well. Technically Nifty may expected to drop from this point or a short term
range bound movement this week; Nifty this week may range 5300-5740.
The market could remain in a narrow range for some time as clear triggers are lacking.
India’s Q3 GDP figures on 30th November will be keenly watched. The disruption
continued this week of the Winter Session of Parliament as the government and the
opposition stuck for the issue on Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in multi-brand retail.
Production of consumer goods fell 0.2% yoy across the September quarter, while
imports of consumer products such as electronics and leather goods are in mild
decline. Production of electrical machinery fell 29% yoy in the year to September.
The S&P 500 has positive this week’s on Thursday as bullish. The major indices
gained instantly for this week showing a bullish trend, with the Dow jones raised nearly
by 2.35 %.Among the global cues to look out for are Greece debt situation and US fiscal
cliff handling. The foreign exchange reserves slipped marginally by 32.7$ million to
293.53$ billion. The total reserves had dipped by 781.5$ million to 293.56$ billion &
Foreign currency assets were down by 16.4$ million to 258.69$ billion for this week.
