2. WHY WE STARTED THE SITE
eBay is a great place to find fine quality Asian antiques.
However they are terrible at running it when it comes
to policing how things are listed.
eBay is just a venue. They have no interest or skill in
authenticating any kind of art or antiques.
On eBay Today, over 550,00 items are listed as
“Asian Antiques” on the site.
98% of them are not as described.

• We’ve been Dealers-Auctioneers-Appraisers for
almost 40 years. Located in Gloucester, Massachusetts.
• We know how to authenticate Asian art-antiques.
• We think encouraging and helping buyers make good
choices is great for the business.
• We’re also pretty “Geeky” and are really good at
building searches.

4. BidAmount was started originally to share searches we built for hunting on eBay.
We then built a list of hundreds of eBay knowledgeable sellers we know.
Their listings were added to the site.

5. THE SITE GREW
We added a blog to inform and educate.
..and an image archive.
Then informative auction catalogs.
Links to museum collections.

6. STARTED A NEWS LETTER (HOW IT STARTED)
• We created it initially for just for our own customers.
• We sent them images and links to other dealers selling
things they might like. We like our customers!
• The News Letter got shared with other collectors and
dealers. We met new people!
• We began getting regular inquiries. They asked to be
added to the weekly mailing, so we did.
• We eventually added an automatic sign up form.
• Thousands since have signed up. It’s FREE!
THEN WE..

7. ADDED THE NEWS LETTER PAGE
• The News Letter got too big to eMail.
• So we made a page on the site just for it!
• Many more dealers were added.
• More subscribers signed up!
• Each Saturday night, our subscribers are notified when the site is
updated for the coming week.
Then auction catalogs

8. THE NEWS LETTER EXPANDED AS DID THE ENTIRE SITE
….auction & exhibition catalogs.
We added pages for permanent access to on
screen catalog flip books.
(Linked through the “Site Navigator Page”)

9. MORE NEW FEATURES WERE ADDED
• Live RSS News Feeds were added for readers covering global
Asian art news.
• Then came the Distiller Pages, a couple buttons linked to
hundreds of good items imported directly from our eBay
sellers.
• The Weekly FEATURED items, each week a few of our favorite
things being sold began being highlighted.
