The Weeki Wachee Springs State Park Mermaid Theater is undergoing a restoration project to remove the asphalt shingle roof and wood framing that were added in the 1970s and conceal the original concrete barrel vault shell roof. The shell roof was hidden at that time to match the park's Polynesian village theme, but the project expanded to fully expose the intact original shell roof once again to restore the theater's original image.

When I discovered that
the shell was intact, I
knew that it had to be
exposed once again.
