This document provides guidance to students on developing and planning their final pieces for a mock exam over 10 hours. It instructs students to consider which methods they want to use to create their outcomes, including scanning, layering, printing, and darkroom techniques. Students are asked to annotate experimental pages with descriptions and opinions of their experiments, including edits, scales, combinations of photos, paper types, and supporting artist links. They should show a clear plan for their final piece on another page, including layout, display, timeline, and how it connects to their theme and previous work.
Photographic Experiments and Final Outcome Planning
1.
2.
3. • Scanning work into Photoshop
and digitally manipulating –take
acetate to darkroom.
• Transfer methods
• Layering photos, acetate
images
• Printing onto images
• ‘Distressing’, - sanding,
scratching into.
• Cutting, collaging , combining
with materials.
• 3D Experiments
• Using acetate as a negative in
the darkroom
• Photograms
• Cynotypes
• Lumen Prints
This week you need to consider
what methods you would like to
use to create your final outcome(s)
in your 10 hour Mock Exam.
Consider what methods have been
successful. You may want to also
use the darkroom to create your
final outcomes.
4. Experimental Development
DevelopmentExplain what you need to consider to feel confident with producing your final
piece.
Annotate your experiments with how you have created them and your
opinions.
These pages should include things like editing experiments,
experimenting with scale, darkroom experiments, small versions of how
your work be displayed (photographed and labelled, different
combinations of photographs you could use, considering different scales
and shapes, different types of paper you could print on etc)
Make sure you add Artist/Photographic links to support your experiments.
It might be a good idea to add a new shoot to your
experimental development pages to refine your ideas
5. Final Idea
Show a clear plan for your
final piece(s) including
the layout and how it will
be displayed
You may want to add to this
page how you will plan your
time
Write a paragraph about
how it links to your theme
and links to the previous
work you have created for
this project
(make sure you are
showing a journey and
your idea is purposeful)
Artist(s) links
Add a few images, context
about the Artist and a short
explanation to how these
Artist(s) support your idea
6. This week……
Deadlines: Wednesday 24th
/25th
April
-Create a page with contacts and enlargements from
your latest shoot.
-Create ‘Final Outcome’ mood board with
annotations of ideas. Remember your piece must
take you 10 hours to produce.
-Take a new shoot if needed!
-Create AT LEAST two double pages: ‘Experimental
Development’ + ‘Final idea’ (Link these to
Artist/Photographers on the page). You could add
contact sheets, enlargements of your own
photographic work that you may use and add
experiments and clear explanations. You should also
consider how the work should be displayed. You
might need to take a further shoot to add to these
pages.
-Remember all work set is a guide extra ideas,
shoots, experiments could push you into the higher
grade boundaries.
