18. Brazil: Deforestation - Rainforest Destruction When people clear out spaces of the great Amazon Rainforest, it does much harm to the earth. Workers clear out areas in the Amazon for buildings, farmlands, mining, and roads as well. Not only does this eliminate many creatures by destroying their natural habitat, it destroys plants and trees in this lush, leafy land. Deforestation causes there to be less oxygen; which is detrimental to the earth as a whole.
