March 2013.

Reporting deadline: 31st May 2013
9. What are the IG Tools?
• Set of online carbon calculators
• Specific to cultural sectors
• 3 relevant tools (5 in total):
– Outdoor Events
– Offices
– Venues/Cultural Buildings
• Account for as a minimum:
- Energy
- Water

• Scope includes Electricity and Gas consumption and water
for 2012/13.
• For the buildings and events that you pay bills for
• Focus your efforts on what you have most control over
• Use your discretion to decide on what should be
monitored if its not part of your core estate

Environmental Policy
A broad overarching statement of your environmental ambitions,
which provides a framework for day-to-day action.
Action Plan
Detailed and specific document that defines
(i) targets (ii) actions (iii) responsibilities and (iv) deadlines
for achieving environmental improvement and reducing
environmental impacts.

• Identify different stakeholders and relationships

identify how the EP and AP involves them
– Marketing and comms; finance; operations/facilities; programming;

FOH; artist liaison; etc.

through MCC's 'invest to save' scheme
• Replacing chillers with energy efficient turbo chillers
• Undertaking pilot to introduce a dead band on temp and humidity
controls rather than fixed setting
• Buying communal cycles for staff to use to attend local meetings
etc.

• Looking at removing air conditioning from parts of the building
and making use of passive air handling systems regulated via Earth
tubes and ground source heat pumps

refurbishments
