Magnesium and Oxygen

When I held the magnesium over the fire, it lit up and
                                                            The Magnesium is all by itself, and oxygen has two.
              was a very bright light.
                                                          They combine with each other. So there is two Oxygen
                                                        and one magnesium. But the magnesium needs another one
                                                              so they end up looking like magnesium oxide.

                                        2 Mg + O2 ----> 2 MgO
If your hair is on fire, wrap the blanket around your head!

Editor's Notes

  • #3 Have fun with yourself. By the way Skitch is awesome if you have a mac.
  • #4 You can shoot yourself and put it online for when you have a sub. By the way, posterous.com is the most awesome teaching tool to go with your webcam This was actually shot by a flip video camcorder.
  • #5 You can take pictures of demonstrations.
  • #6 Kids can make the powerpoint for you, which gets making a class more fun, relevant and engaging. Photo Booth
  • #7 Logger pro is awesome.
  • #8 Some teachers video themselves doing procedures for labs so kids can preview the material. In this case it is an iTune subscription video pod cast.
  • #9 Or have student make the videos.
  • #10 Demonstrating perspective. Assessing that. Using digital cameras. iMovie
  • #11 In google search make an animated gif. My favorite is makeagif.com, except that it is down a lot. You can use it to actually take the pictures. Tell a story in 5 pictures. Example: http://www.flickr.com/groups/visualstory/discuss/72157623556917594/
