AKSHAY CHOPRA
AN AVID FITNESS ENTHUSIAST,
CREATING A NEW REALM IN FITNESS
AND NUTRITION
Akshay Chopra
Founder & Director
I
n its search for a noteworthy and inspirational tale in the Indian
business world, Business Connect came across the glorious tale of
Akshay Chopra, the director of We R Stupid, a former Indian Air
Force pilot, a fitness enthusiast, and a visionary with strong business
acumen and leadership skills.
Cruising to emerge as India’s leading research-based health, fitness,
and lifestyle platform, We R Stupid initiated its voyage in 2019 with
the idea of eradicating myths, eliminating the clutter of inaccurate
and self-made knowledge, and offering evidence-based facts in the
areas of fitness, nutrition, and lifestyle. The idea, which emerged from
a YouTube channel, ended up being a historic beginning for many
aspects of fitness and nutrition, including the health supplement
company MangoHerbs, the online fitness and nutrition coaching
program GENESIS, which offers solutions to people of all ages from
over 42 countries, and much more.
Strategically headquartered in Gurugram, the company distinguishes
itself through the trust in the minds and hearts of customers. This
trust is a result of the corporation maintaining a customer-focused
strategy and using the best production methods. Furthermore, you do
not need to worry about competitive advantage if you are giving the
best service possible and meeting the needs of the client.
A MULTIDISCIPLINARY BUSINESS LEADER, AKSHAY
CHOPRA
Akshay Chopra, Founder and Director of We R Stupid, is a former
Indian Air Force pilot and has been the captain of the Air Force
bodybuilding team. Akshay is a prolific writer and an alumnus of the
esteemed National Defense Academy and the Air Force Academy. He
has published hundreds of articles for different journals and websites
and over 90 eBooks in his area of expertise.
Akshay began penning essays for a number of publications and websites. Several books and eBooks have
been written by the author. He has also given speeches around the nation at conferences like 7xTEDx,
Josh Talks, and the India International Science Festival, as well as in hospitals, fitness expos, business
events, and schools. After his retirement, Akshay very recently started his career in the fitness industry.
He began with his YouTube channel WE R STUPID and started the Genesis online fitness program, which
has clients from over 42 countries around the world.
A GLANCE AT HIS SPECTACULAR JOURNEY
In the late 1990s, Akshay commenced his creative endeavours in the fitness and sports industries. He
comes from a family of athletes. Sports and fitness were in Akshaya’s blood because his mother was a
national award-winning athlete and his grandfather was a former wrestler.
However, excelling in sports wasn’t regarded as a virtue in the 1990s. Regardless of your talent, your social
standing is determined by your grades. And Akshay was a top-back bencher.
Even though Akshay hated school, he enjoyed reading. He was a voracious reader. He
was able to qualify for the elite National Defense Academy because of his love of reading
literature and sports. NDA completely changed his perspective on life. Following the NDA,
Akshay enrolled in the Air Force Academy, where he completed his flight training before
being commissioned as a pilot in the IAF.
Shining more light on his journey, the inspirational persona apprised,
“My first assignment was in the lovely city of Baroda. And while handling an
incredibly demanding flight schedule and my workouts, I was fairly consistent. I
was exercising one day in a metropolitan gym when a group of trainers approached
me and persuaded me to participate in a bodybuilding contest. I participated in my
very first competition, Mr. Baroda, after around 8 to 10 months of preparation,
and I took first place with a gold medal. The IAF bodybuilding squad soon took
note of me and invited me to join the team. After that, there was no going back.
I continued competing in and winning contests at the state, inter-services, and
national levels over the following couple of years.”
The best part of this incredible journey was the hands-on training Akshay Chopra received from
some of India’s best educators. From competitive bodybuilding to rigorous military training,
from track and field athletics to several other sports, including swimming, football, volleyball,
horseback riding, and more. But one thing that had been bothering him constantly all along was
the theoretical part of it – the why, the how, and the what behind all that he was doing
Everything started out by focusing on the study of exercise science, biomechanics, strength
and conditioning, nutrition, and supplements. The expert fitness coach obtained numerous
international courses and certificates but felt there was something missing from his
education. As a result, he was able to conduct an independent study and delve much deeper
into a variety of aspects of fitness and nutrition. After that, there was no turning back.
MANGO HERBS: BRINGING THE PURE
NATURAL GOODS
Akshay formed Mango Herbs a few years ago with just one product. Since then, the
company has grown to over 20 goods and has a sizable domestic and international customer
base. Mango Herbs is dedicated to providing you with the most pure natural goods that are
supported by reliable scientific research. It is the only company in India whose products
combine the most effective elements of both traditional Ayurveda and cutting-edge science.
BATTLING THE COVID-19 CRISIS
COVID-19 was one of the most frightening and hazardous periods in recent human history.
Many thriving enterprises were forced to incur significant losses or close their doors.
Millions lost their jobs.
But it was also a time of immense potential and learning, as people learned more than ever
before about the power of technology and online business. During the COVID era, both the
supplement company Mango Herbs and the online training company Genesis launched and
had great growth.
SYNCHRONIZING WITH THE LATEST TECH ADVANCEMENTS
The health and fitness sector has evolved significantly over the years as a result of powerful
technology solutions and people’s increased awareness of their health. They now have much
greater flexibility because of technology, which also makes fitness more accessible to everyone.
SIGNIFICANCE OF R&D
Innovation is fueled by R&D, which is a key component. And in this fiercely competitive
environment, creativity is the only way to succeed. The team makes sure that each and every
product the business releases on the market is made up of the highest-quality components
in the most bioavailable form.
“We have a team of Ayurvedic
and Pharma doctors and
professors, and I myself am
involved in the key facet of
research for every product”,
says the founder when asked to
acknowledge the implication of
research and development in the
company’s operation.
EXCLUSIVE MARKETING
APPROCH
As a direct-to-consumer brand,
Akshay’s current marketing
objective is to raise brand
recognition, online visibility,
and ultimately sales. This is
accomplished through influencer
marketing, with serving as the
main source through his social
media following. Additionally, in
order to raise brand visibility, paid
advertising initiatives are essential.
THE FUTURE OUTLOOK –
AT A GLANCE
While speaking about the road
ahead, Mr Chopra shared,
“My present focus is more
on expanding MangoHerbs’
product line and customer base.
We started a business with just
one product, and it has since
grown to over 20 goods, with
the goal of eventually reaching
more than 50. The goal is to
penetrate verticals like skin
care and hair care over the
course of the next five years
and surpass 100 crores yearly.”
MOTIVATING WORDS FOR

Hybrid education features the carefully planned and mix-up of both styles’, traditional classroom
teaching and online learning activities.
Despite attending every class on the bench via regular visits to the educational campus, a significant
amount of class time is moved online to magnify learning standards. The online education system of
learning is beneficial for both students as well as teachers.
Hybrid education is giving opportunities to teachers to start freelancing work most of the teachers start
writing education blogs during the pandemic and earn well.
Hybrid Education System: Learn More Effectively
5.The hybrid learning system is mainly focused to
engage students, parents, and communities to
ensure all students are back to school.
6.It’s Combines both remote learning & in-person
learning to improve the student experience
and ensure learning standards.
7.It is a great experiment that took place globally
last year and it shows that we can deliver
education remotely & digitally.
8.In case of students not able to attend their
class, they can download the session and can
continue classes from the pause or start from
the beginning.
9.Higher-quality interactions with students via
email, discussion forums, or online chat.
10.Provide quality education including self-tests,
tutorials, and online group projects over the
Internet.
Rising Educational Technology
Start-ups
The number of Internet users is increasing
rapidly, online education fees are low as
compared with the offline class. Today, every
parent wants to send their child to the best
school but we forget about the best teachers.
Educational technology companies claimed that
they are dealing with the top educators. Indian
Government has already taken the initiative
of ‘Digital India’ and ‘Skill India’ to raise and
enhance education through e-Basta, Nand Ghars,
e-Education, SWAYAM, India skill online.
In India, over 4,530 active online education start-
ups can be seen today, out of which 435 were
founded in the last 2 years. Keeping business
aside, there are many IT companies or Software
firms that launched an Education Technology
startup in India and abroad as well.
It’s Time to Welcome the
Hybrid Education System
BCM | Sanjay Maurya
During the Covid-19 pandemic,
central and state governments
closed the schools for all
classes and colleges as well
until we get back to a normal
situation, it is risky to open
schools. Today globally,
the government and people
support an online education
system, over 1.2 billion
children are out of the
classroom but they continue
their studies from home.
According to the report of Google and KPMG, the educational technology startups in
India are growing substantially at an average rate of 55 per cent, the Indian Online
Education Market would reach around $2 billion in this year.
What is the Hybrid Education System?
1. Hybrid learning improved flexibility for
students and teachers to hike the access to
learning in rural India.
2. A hybrid learning system is helping to change
the way we see our education system.
3. Hybrid learning is removing various barriers
that have traditionally existed.
4. Hybrid learning is working with the approach
to provide quality education to students.

THE TURNING POINT
At that time, even though private channels like
ZEE had started growing up but, the industry
largely was ruled by the state broadcaster. Hence,
to stand in the market safely, Sun TV started
off with 3 hours of Tamil programs on the ATN
channel under the brand of Sun TV.
Since the begging of time, he had understood
that, for a Tamil TV channel, unlike otherwise
-distribution is king, not content. Keeping that
in mind, Kalanithi had gained and managed a
stranglehold over cable distribution in Tamil
Nadu. This was one of the things that became
the key reason that led to a huge growth in Sun’s
dominant market share in the times to come.
In no time, the Sun TV network started receiving
a positive response, which led to the streaming of
24 hours television channels in several different
languages such as Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and
Bengali. Which then further expanded the news,
movies, music, and more.
But the fortune he started making from the
company was in 1998 when India liberalized the
satellite broadcast industry.
Quickly, the company managed to become
one of the firsts to bag the license.
From 1996 to 2002, his family had managed to
be the ruling party in the state and had a strong
influence and control over the national-level
politics as well. Due to this, a lot of critics didn’t
recognize his hard work. Many believed that
the family’s power has brought success in his
businesses.
THE CHALLENGES.
In 2003, Kalanithi’s father passed away.
Subsequently, he got offered the DMK party ticket for the Chennai Central Lok constituency for the 2004 elections. But his
heart was in his business and refused the offer.
In 2006, Sun Group was listed on a stock exchange and raised around Rs. 600 Cr, for launching new TV and FM channels
along with funding the construction of his new corporate office.
Now was when a real issue started emerging. At the time of filing the IPO, a letter to the PM of India was sent by a Member
of the BJP party asking questions about the conflict of interest with Mr. Dayanidhi Maran (minister of communication and
information technology). During that time, it was assumed that his career was almost over. But he knew this wasn’t his time
he waited for the right time.
COMEBACK
Kalanithi’s love for his business finally overpowered all the difficulties, and soon Sun Network started shining up. By the end
of 2010, he paid Rs 780 Cr to buy a 38% stake of SpiceJet Airline from Airlines from an American private equity investor and
the UK-based Kansagra family, which in the next few years, he increased the stake in SpiceJet by investing Rs. 800 Cr. After
running the airline successfully for four years, he had to sell the stake because of a huge loss.
ACHIEVEMENT.
• The former President praised the $2.7 B deal with him as SpiceJet had
boosted the employment rate in the USA,during his visit to India.
• Received the “Young Businessman Award.” from CNBC, ERNST & Young.
• Forbes named him as the “Television king of southern India”
Kalanithi Maran - The man who created
one of the strongest media houses in India
Kalanithi Maran is an Indian media baron and founder & chairman of Sun Group who owns 32 television channels, 2 news
dailies, weeklies, 45 Fm Radio Stations, DTH (Direct-to-home) Services, and a movie production house. From 2010 to 2015, he
also held half of the stack in the airline’s company Spice-Jet. According to Forbes, he is India’s 57th richest person with $2.4B.
Early life and education.
Kalanithi, whose name means treasure trove in Sanskrit, was born on the 22nd of July 1964 in Chennai. He grew up in a
powerful family wherein his father Murasoli Maran was the former Union Minister of commerce, his brother Dayanidhi
Maran was India’s former textile minister. While his grand-uncle M. Karunanithi was the former chief minister of Tamil Nadu.
He studied at Chennai’s Don Bosco School and Loyola College. After graduating high school, he joined Loyola College, and in
no time was chosen as the student’s union chairman and also led an agitation on the Sri Lankan Tamils issue.
Kalanithi attended the University of Scranton in the United States to study administration. In 1987, he returned from the US
and decided to join his father’s magazine, Kungugumum.
He tied and knot with Kaveri, who is the Joint Managing Director of Sun Network, from whom he has a daughter named
Kaviya (born 1992)
CAREER
When he was pursuing a master’s degree (in the mid-80s). What he saw that the USA was offering had a wide array of
channels. Which were spread across multiple genres. It inspired him to do something in the media field.
But being so young, he wasn’t ready for that. After returning from the USA, he started a new venture Poomalai under his
family wing - a monthly news videos capsules. After successfully running the same for around 2 years, he was forced to stop
the business due to privacy.
But this didn’t stop him from moving forward in life. Having a sufficient amount of experience in the media industry, he
started cable television and Sun TV. In just a few years, the sun TV network became the giant cable network in south India.
Life Cycle of Sun group
Now as much as unsatisfied Kalanithi was by the uncontrolled privacy, he decided to keep
him calm and make the most out of the “opportunity in-disguise” that had presented
itself. In 1993, he took money as a loan from a bank $86,000 grunted by his father, chipped in
all his started Sun TV. He also sold his small stake of his Granduncle M Karunanidhi’s family.
Although, he later bought it. He started the business with 25 people, who were mostly his’
college friends.
The next step was to get a transponder, for which he first approached Subhash Chandra,
who had freshly entered the media industry by founding Zee TV.
He tried to approach him, but he didn’t get a chance to meet Subhash, and his proposal too
was rejected by a junior editor in the company.
Anyways, he knew what he was doing and didn’t let himself down. After little effort, he
managed to get transponders to space from ATN and launched his Chanel.
But this wasn’t just the end. There was no television cable service in the state at that time, so he started the television service
SCV (Sumangala Cable Version) in south India. Eventually, it went on to become the largest cable operator all across south
India.

The pandemic has pushed the adoption of technology in companies like
never before. Whether service, manufacturing or others, digitization has
optimized operations and fostered better engagement with customers.
Digital products have accelerated their growth 3-4 years ahead of their
time by meeting new customer demands through sustainable and cost-
effective products. A survey by global Management consulting firm
McKinsey & Company revealed that in APAC, digital adoption rose to
53% in 2020 from 33% in 2019. The scenario has inspired the minds of
many aspirers. Since the last year, the global market witnessed a surge
in entrepreneurial initiatives, many of which rose from India.
India has always been a home of innovators. With
more and more people turning to digital channels,
SMEs and MSMEs have been the first responders. A
substantial number of new firms have strategized cost-
effective digital solutions that can help companies
start, restart and even optimize their growth. Dr. Rao’s
Consultancy n Services Pvt. Ltd., better known as DCnS,
was conceptualized to strategize new pathways for
companies. Accredited by ISO 9001:2015 Certification,
DCnS came to light in early 2021 at the IT Hub of India,

automation and faster results. Therefore, DCnS has devised a gamut of
flexible solutions, ranging from Infrastructure Management Services,
Application Management Services, Computer Systems Validation
(CSV), Computer Software Assurance (CSA), Testing as Service,
Industrial training, Auditing and other compliance services.
DCnS works with both - the public and private sector, encompassing
companies of all sizes and verticals. The Company has a strong team in
place, led by seasoned executives with substantial industry experience
across multiple geographies. Its solutions are adaptable and extend to
a wide range of partners across industries. Integrating experience and
resources, DCnS is working to stabilise these difficult times delivering
value to their clients’ businesses. The pandemic has inspired people
to think outside the box, and DCnS is on a mission to rise with the
innovation curve and meet the dynamic requirements of its clients.
A GLANCE AT THE FOUNDER
“A leader is a front-engine paving the way for the rest of
the teams to perform effectively and keep contributing to
the growth of the company”, Dr. Damodar Rao, Founder &
Managing Director, DCnS. This thought-provoking notion
has kept DCnS’s sail high amid the turmoil. Dr. Rao is a man
of focus and specializes in turning challenges into prospects.
He is well-balanced with the ups and downs of the industry
and favours taking smart and critical decisions. Under his
stewardship, DCnS has formed alliances with several product
and service providers. Within months of its founding, DCnS
has amassed a team of enthusiastic individuals dedicated to
continuous R&D and cutting-edge marketing strategies. A
strong focus on R&D keeps the company up with innovations
and helps to understand the market and the competition
amongst peers. With time, Dr. Rao plans to expand further
into the R&D space and come up with more products and
applications.
STRATEGIZING MARKET OUTREACH
DCnS also has an integrated marketing strategy to build its outreach.
It mainly follows a two-way approach – reaching out to clients directly
(land and expand) and leveraging alliances’ strength and support for
enlargement. It has a digital marketing division that engages in various
social media promotion initiatives (LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook).
The team reaches out to alliances and potential clients with their
promotional materials to build engagements and expand its radar.
DCnS has already established a strong base amongst Manufacturing,
Pharmaceuticals/Life sciences, Healthcare, Consumer Packaged Goods,
Banking and Finance, Automobiles, Retail, Information Technology,
Travel & Transport, Academia, Real Estate and Oil & Gas. The era has
drawn out favoured digital marketing approaches for every innovator.
And as DCnS expands - in regards to team and product portfolio, it’ll
adopt more flexible marketing methods that keep the wheels running
even in the pandemic.
A BEFITTING WORK CULTURE
Every startup is born from a particular mission, vision and radiates
core values that anchor its trajectory. And these are guided by their
greatest asset - the workforce. At DCnS, employees live by a code of
conduct, which focuses on behaviour towards peers and leaders. The
Company promotes freedom of expression, which keeps the ecosystem
transparent and ensures open communication. The leaders keep a
hawk’s eye on factors that may trigger conflicts and
disrupt the harmony of the workplace. “We expect every
employee to foster a well-organized, respectful and
collaborative environment”, says Dr. Rao. The coherence
fosters a like-minded state and helps the Company
think beyond the competition. DCnS intends to develop
niche products and deliver services with a unique value
proposition that stimulates their preference.
A POTENTIAL TO REACH NEW HEIGHTS
A progressive venture stands upon 5 pillars – Identifying
the need, availability of capital and maintaining cash
flow, a like-minded team, remaining competitive and
abreast of trends, and optimized pricing and costs.
Irrespective of which vertical it is in and the challenges
it may be facing, these factors ensure a company is on
a prolific track. The understanding is helping DCnS
nurture its ultimate goal upon these factors and stay
progressive. In the first month of inception, the Company
signed MoUs and NDAs with 3 other companies, which
will benefit in expanding the radar and work with
MNCs in India and abroad. The Company is also in the
process of setting up many Center of Excellence (CoEs)
for Banking and Pharma industry clients, respectively.
A CONTEMPLATIVE ADVICE FOR ASPIRERS
“If you crystal down to being an
entrepreneurial material, then the next
step is to wear the thinking cap and start
exploring the avenues on what can be
done differently and what can bring in
the real value add to clients or citizens
in the marketplace”,

WIND OF CHANGE
Yes, Covid 19 proved out to be a disaster for the world. Many companies were
shut down. Millions lost their jobs. Startups could never revive. But there’s
another side of the story as well. There were many businesses that thrived.
Numerous new opportunities cropped up. Firms that were able to switch to
a digital means of doing business dived through these situations to come out
on the top. As e-commerce demand increased, several merchants were able to
expand their online presence. Gyms were able to provide live fitness sessions to
their subscribers via their own applications and social media. Ride-hailing and
delivery platforms were able to spread their services to other industries and assist
them in moving online.
Within the first year of its formation, the Groples team had two of the
major Indian corporate houses as clients.
“ We have actively contributed to their diversity and social responsibility initiatives by
helping them hire more candidates with challenging backgrounds.” shares Amit Khanzode,
the chief Sales and Marketing Officer.
ASSISTING WORKERS IN BECOMING MORE PRODUCTIVE
Groples enables consumers to beat the competition by providing digital
transformation and technology services from concept to implementation. Groples,
a company that was “born digital,” uses an innovative, inclusive strategy to create
customized solutions around the virtual supply chain. Groples Solutions can
help you operate your business more effectively or increase your revenue faster.
Better cooperation inside and across organizations, more personalized customer
interaction, greater staff flexibility, and more reliable data findings are all benefits
of the tech revolution, all of which help a firm expand and thrive post-pandemic.
“ Core businesses such as accounting and Human resources may gain from digitalization
by shifting away from paper processes and digitizing key aspects such as payroll, thus
empowering management to concentrate on broader competitive advantages.” quotes the
CEO, Mr. Charudatta Pande
MAKE FASTER AND BETTER DECISIONS.
Because of the Internet of Things, businesses now have access to bigger amounts of
data than ever before. This data may be transformed into useful advanced analytics
with the proper combination of analytical tools, allowing you to make better, faster
decisions.
“We strongly believe that the next decade belongs to India. We are going to experience
unprecedented growth. The companies need to be internally prepared to capitalize on
these opportunities. While we are preparing technology solutions for the medium and
small enterprises, the owners and senior management of these organisations must start
considering technology as their partner in growth.” quotes the CEO
IMPROVE BUSINESS PARTNERSHIPS
Customer demand is growing, and rivalry within sectors is strong. Businesses
are growing more dependent on one another, collaborating with distributors and
retailers, middlemen, and specialized advisors. Managing these relationships
frequently necessitates document-based interaction, which has historically been
seen as a time-consuming impediment to efficiency. However, technology is now
available to revamp this procedure.
“ We assist in the transformation of technological infrastructure workflows in order to offer
digitized frameworks, boost corporate agility, and promote sustainability,” adds Mr. Amit
Joshi.
LOOKING FORWARD
The company would build on cofounder’s experience of working with large
corporations and solving complex business problems using enterprise systems to
develop simple value-generating applications for medium and small enterprises.
“ We believe that the digitalization for the medium and small enterprises would follow
A different growth curve compared to the large enterprises. These companies have their
peculiar challenges and would need realistic solutions to drive adoption at the ground level.
Hence, we are going to build these applications for medium and small enterprises.” quotes
the CEO.
Most of the global technology companies are
focused on solving challenges faced by large
enterprises. We are building solutions that
would enable medium and small size companies
to use the right platforms and technologies
to scale their IT operations in line with their
business requirements
Mr. Charudatta Pande- CEO- Groples
Technology is not a choice in this new
environment, but rather a core business strategy
that must be integrated into every aspect of
an organization. Today’s modern customer,
whether internally or externally, demands the
very same level of service in a work context as
they do in their personal life. However, for a
firm, this might be difficult to do. There have not
been more options in terms of where and how
applications are delivered, as well as who to
collaborate with.
Groples’ enables businesses to quickly
grow their operations by using digital platforms
and technology. They are aiming toward a goal
of making a thousand Indian businesses entirely
digital by 2025. Mr. Pande steers,
“ Post COVID 19, Digital is the new way of life
for all businesses. Whether you are a manufac-
turer, trader, reseller, or service provider, your
business needs to be digital.”
Organizations that don’t really undergo digital
transformation will fail
Why are some firms performing better than
others, and why are some firms doing better
than before the crisis? Firms that have effectively
executed digital transformation or those that
have been able to swiftly adopt digitalization are
doing better than others.
“Companies who do not adopt Digital way of
business will be left behind and eventually go
out of business” believes, Amit Joshi CFO

MUSHROOM CULTIVATION:
A Sustainable Agribusiness In India
“One of the major agricultural industries on the earth is mushroom processing.”
Agriculture is vital to the Indian economy. According to the Economic Survey 2021, the share of agriculture in India’s GDP has
increased to almost 20 percent in 2021.
Farming in the traditional way is no longer a guarantee of profit.
Through innovations in farming, farmers can increase their income if they wish. Recently, the Indian Government’s industrial
policy and innovative creativity have encouraged research and entrepreneurship in mushroom cultivation.
It has a lot of potential as a money maker.
It is light-independent, feeds on organic matter, and does not require fertile soil to grow.
India’s unemployment rate has risen to 6.8 % and the youth is no longer confident of
jobs. In such a situation, the interest of the educated youth has shifted more towards
sustainable agribusiness. Farmers are making good profits in small areas by doing
mushroom cultivation in a modern way.
The Mushroom Cultivation Market is projected to be worth USD 16.7 billion in 2021,
rising at a CAGR of 4% from 2021 to 2026, to hit a value of USD 20.4 billion.
Rajkumari Binita Devi, a mushroom cultivator from Manipur, is a great example of
someone who was influenced by experience and was able to make a fortune and receive
awards despite being an unskilled mushroom cultivator.
What is a Mushroom?
A mushroom (Kukurmutta in Hindi) is a fungus’ umbrella-shaped fruit. It is a tasty food that is enjoyed by both children and
elders all over the world. It’s also known as “the future vegetable,” as it’s a guarantee against food shortages, hunger, and
medicinal value. With the increasing population across the globe, Mushroom demand has risen recently, because mushrooms
meet the needs of health-conscious consumers and are a desirable alternative food, especially for vegetarians.
NUTRITIONAL VALUE OF MUSHROOMS
Mushrooms have a low-fat content and are high in simple carbohydrates. They’re also rich in digestible protein, high
molecular weight polysaccharides, and a decent source of fibre, among other nutrients.
Mushrooms also contain unsaturated fatty acids, which account for more than 70% of total fatty acid content, as well as
essential fatty acids, are low in calories, and high in vegetable proteins, minerals, and vitamins. They also contain a lot of
secondary metabolites, which may be useful in nutraceuticals, pharmacology, and medicine.
Some mushrooms have anti-inflammatory properties that can help prevent diseases like hypertension, hypercholesterolemia,
atherosclerosis, and cancer.
HISTORY
About 600 A.D., the first mushroom, “Auricularia auricula”, was cultivated.
“Flammulina velutipes” is later cultivated in China around 800-900 A. D.
Commercial mushroom farming has only recently begun in India, with Himachal
Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh,
Manipur, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka leading the way.
Andhra Pradesh is a big producer of mushrooms.
Training of Mushroom cultivation in IndiaVarious government and non-governmental
organisations (NGOs) in India provide mushroom cultivation instruction. Dr. Rajendra
Prasad Central Agricultural University, Pusa, Samastipur, Bihar and National Research Centre for Mushroom (NRCM), Solan,
Himachal Pradesh are pioneer educational institutes. A “Mushroom Cultivation Technology” online training program is also
available. Farmers, as well as entrepreneurs, would benefit from training programs.
It is possible to have mushroom production three times a year because the length of 45 to 60 days aquate for mushroom
production. Diabetes flour, pickles, cookies, papad, and protein diet powder made from mushrooms.
TYPES OF MUSHROOM
Button mushrooms, oyster mushrooms, and paddy straw mushrooms are the three
primary varieties of mushroom harvest. These mushrooms are important in their own
right, and they develop in different ways using different techniques and methods.
To grow mushrooms, a special bed known as a compost bed is prepared.
COST OF MUSHROOM CULTIVATION IN INDIA
In India, the total cost of mushroom cultivation is around INR 1,50,000. Scrap
Wooden Shelves (Rs. 20,000), Room Construction Costs (INR 1,25,000), and other
Miscellaneous Costs are included (Rs. 5000).
FINAL THOUGHTS
Mushroom cultivation is now India’s most active and profitable sector. It is rapidly gaining popularity in India because it turns
farmers’ hard work into benefits in a short period.
Agri-entrepreneurship programs especially in mushroom cultivation that involve capacity building and access to funds for
youth should flourish to solve India’s brain drain issue.
What today’s youth lack is the inspiration and entrepreneurship to see agriculture’s promise and prospects?. Youths are a
source of creativity and a strong source of inspiration for others.

How to survive the 14 days
HOTEL QUATRAINS
D
ear traveler, there are 14-15-days isolation required at your next destination. Today we will be sharing
tips to survive the 14 days hotel quarantine. In the post-pandemic world, hotel quarantine has become
compulsory in almost all countries – including India – and whist staying in a hotel for days on end
may have previously sounded like a dream, it is actually a lot more challenging than it looks. Many
popular destinations like UK, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Singapore, Australia, and many others have
implemented a compulsory quarantine rule. Tourists have to quarantine in a hotel for anywhere
between 14-21 days, at their expense. So, if you are one of the travelers who want to visit a
specific country, here are some tips that will help you survive your stay in a hotel quarantine.
Book a room with a view
While the thought of spending your quarantine period in a single room
may not be pleasing for most of you, booking a room that has greenery
or mountain views or some such nice view can help. Out of the list of
quarantine hotels, select hotel and hotel’s room wisely where you can feel
good about spending your quarantine.
It would be great if the room comes up with a balcony, where you can sit
and enjoy a cup of coffee.
Wake up with purpose
Some people will be in quarantine for 14 or other 21 days- it depends
on country to country. So, plan how you will be spending each day in
your room. Start your day with some physical exercise, followed by a
pampering session in the shower – try to accomplish something, even the
smallest task is countable.
You may also make a to-do list before you hit the sack and start next
days on purposeful not. Also, going to bed early and waking up on time
save the tone for your day. Taking a good sleep 7 to 8 hours is better for
all of us, especially when you quarantine yourself in a single room. This
doesn’t just give you directions but also a certain degree of control over
your day.
Do some exercise
In this post-pandemic world, physical activity must be a part of your
daily routine; it helps you to kill two birds with one stone – it keeps both
the blues and flab away.
Physical activities are known to release happy hormones – endorphins,
serotonin, and norepinephrine. So, choose the physical activity you enjoy
and can add in your quarantine periods. Dancing, acro yoga, aerobics –
choose from several options you can practice to stay fit and happy.
Soak in some vitamin D
Catch early morning sunrises; you can also meditate or practice yoga while
you get vitamin D. So when you are making a hotel booking, try to get an
east-facing room. The coming sunlight through windows to your face will
instantly cheer your mood and energize you to face the day. It is also good
for your health.
Stay connected.
It has become very important, especially as the world combats covid-19, that
we stay in touch with someone who cares about us. Use the hotel WIFI and
make some time every day to talk with family, friends, and partners during
hotel quarantine.
Whether it be through chat, a phone call, and a video call. I recommend you
make a phone or video call, in this, you can connect with their emotion.
Digital detox
Fixing eyes on your phone or TV screen all day is harmful to our brain and
eyes. So, keep your eyes away from your phone screen to give some rest
to your mind and of curses your eyes. Lesser screen time shearing offers
benefits which include improved sleeping quality and attention span. Many
research also shows that people who abstain from using social media are less
likely to have anxiety and depression.
Instead of scrolling – screen smartphone, solve a puzzle or read the book,
keep in mind that books must be paperbacks.
Eat healthy food
As you are in hotel quarantine, try to choose healthy food options when it
comes to your meals, including breakfast, lunch, and dinners – once in a
while is fine. Self-isolation has made us seek comfort in junk food, but it will
be wise to not let this time ruin our healthy eating habits.
Junk food and processed food in your diet have many disadvantages,
including obesity and leathery, make sure your meal (from morning to night)
satiates your hunger and nourishes you during your quarantine time.
If you are bored with hotel food, you can also look for online delivery
services, which will offer you some healthy and tasty options.
Cultivate a skill
With quite some time in your hands, why not develop a new skill during
your quatrain period? There are tons of options available on the internet
at affordable prices, from dancing classes to cooking courses. You can start
something doing something, which was on hold for a long time because you
weren’t able to find the time.
As you finish your quarantine period, do not forget to follow a basic
rule, wear the mask, sanitize your hands or wash them- when you touch
something, and maintain distance as much as possible.
(both mentally & physically)

somewhere in mid of 2017. The following year i.e. 2018 brought
its fair share of ups and downs, due to the lack of high-profile
testimonials in its favour. But persistent hard work and
unwavering determination allow them to develop a product line
enriched in effortless user interactions and automated concepts
that led to a swift turnaround in terms of its growth. Indeed, they
strived hard to make a difference in this competitive scenario
and stand apart in the crowd. Jitendra also reckons that during
the nascent stage of this start-up, the incomparable support it
received from several NBFC start-ups was quite instrumental.
Step by step, they climb the ladder of expansion, in which word
of mouth was quite critical, and eventually, within a year they
brought over 500+ global financiers
nder their service parasol.
R&D- GIVING IT AN EDGE
Jitendra reveals that in his 15 years of a successful career as
a software engineer while being associated with India’s 3
leading IT firms, he used to develop at least one innovative
idea every day. His incessant zeal for the amelioration of
services and products made him realize the significance of
R&D in the business world. He asserts that owing to extensive
R&D process only, Jainam Software has been able to get an
edge in the market. By following the above-mentioned belief,
he stated, “ We follow agile scrum methodology and keep our
product updated every day using continuous integration and
continuous delivery (CI/CD). Moreover, we discuss every
possible challenge with customers, take it positively and try
to convert it into an opportunity to do something better.”
At present, the R&D team of the company is intensely focused
on the utilisation of blockchain in microfinance that can make
a huge difference to financial space.
WORK CULTURE DRIVEN BY AGILITY
Jainam Software is known for its open and cordial work culture
suffused with self-motivated individuals. Here, leadership is
aligned with the overall thought process for the betterment of
the operations. Jitendra affirms to have put immense efforts
into eliminating micromanagement in the company to save
time as well as energy and the individuals own up to their
responsibilities by an agile process. “We have a relaxing work
culture because everyone in the company is self driven. Team
members decide their work as per priority and are responsible
tocompletetheirrespectivetask,”quotestheManagingPartner.
Additionally, for each employee, continuous improvement and
daily growth is quite imperative to quantify their success. On
that note, the management ensures to implement a system of
constant learning to stimulate creativity among the teammates.
ROADMAP TO BUSINESS EXPANSION
Jainam Software has designed a perfect roadmap towards
surging business growth where they are firstly fixated
on adding more NBFC merchants to their clientele. The
company’s global representatives are targeting China and
other Asian countries. “We tend to follow zero distance
process improvement so that our merchants also grow their
business with less effort. Our idea is to make entire loan on
boarding, disbursement and management with zero manual
intervention,” professed Jitendra, highlighting the future
outlooks.

is flourished with different Line of Businesses (LOBs) from the finance domain
that has been possible due to their exemplary products and service offerings. At
present, with the 100% customer retention and 90% customer satisfaction rate, the
start-up is leaping towards better prospects while crossing significant milestones.
UTILE TIPS TO THE ENTREPRENEURS
As we asked Jitendra to share some handy tips with the aspiring business leaders,
he responded by saying, “Building few clients initially is a big challenge for a
start-up. We need to find opportunities from the problems around us and what
we listen to from clients. As a start-up, we need to be agile so that we are real-time
in problem solving, design, development and deployment. To be competent in
the business, we need to keep upgraded almost daily and intend to be ready for
future scope.”
THE CONCLUDING NOTE BY THE KEY DIGNITARY
Before signing off from the virtual session, Jitendra wanted to convey some words
highlighting the flagship product, “Our product helps merchant to apply niche
finance schemes using customized configuration so that they stand out from the
traditional way of doing business. We never say no to changes because that is how
we improve the product daily. We anticipate business problems and provide long
term approach to solve it. Merchants lean to do more business with less effort
using our product.”

  • 3. Kajal Dobhal Kajal@businessconnectindia.in It’s hard to believe that we are just two months away from bidding farewell to 2023… This year has been fantastic in numerous ways as we all learned many significant lessons. We all can agree that this year we learned that it is crucial to pause and celebrate the extraordinary efforts of businesses that consistently go above and beyond to generate value for their customers. And what could be a better way to ensure that than releasing a special edition? Yes, we are thrilled to shine the spotlight on a few fantastic businesses that have set new standards for customer-centricity, innovation, and social responsibility. As the business ethics claim that the success of any company is fundamentally tied to its ability to understand and meet the needs of its customers, Business Connect believes that the brands showcased here not only understand but also anticipate and exceed those needs. These ventures very well comprehend that business can be a force for positive change, creating a win-win scenario for both the company and its customers. Our apt team of writers have made sure that you will find a perfect shot of entrepreneurial motivation through these pages as the testament to their unwavering commitment to create a change. We hope that by leafing through these stories, you would get the inspiration to turn your dreams into a living reality. What speaks the most for me is the fact that often in unique and unexpected ways, these businesses serve as a reminder that they are more than just profit-driven entities. Yes, they can be catalysts for transformation and social impact. Day by day, we are navigating through an increasingly complex and interconnected world. And the companies featured here serve as beacons of hope and progress to help keep the motto of change afloat. It reminds us that the pursuit of value creation should not be a mere corporate goal but a noble endeavor to improve the lives of individuals and communities collectively. For the cover page, we were confident to feature the success narrative of We R Stupid, an outstanding venture that is a research-based health, fitness and lifestyle platform. The genesis story of this business venture would indeed fuel your entrepreneurial fire. Akshay Chopra is the founder and director of the company who is a fitness enthusiast and wanted to create waves in the industry with his expertise here. Do check out his complete entrepreneurial story and let’s know your precious feedback via email. Finally, we would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to all of our global readers out there who have supported us through thick and thin. • 6. AKSHAY CHOPRA AN AVID FITNESS ENTHUSIAST, CREATING A NEW REALM IN FITNESS AND NUTRITION Akshay Chopra Founder & Director I n its search for a noteworthy and inspirational tale in the Indian business world, Business Connect came across the glorious tale of Akshay Chopra, the director of We R Stupid, a former Indian Air Force pilot, a fitness enthusiast, and a visionary with strong business acumen and leadership skills. Cruising to emerge as India’s leading research-based health, fitness, and lifestyle platform, We R Stupid initiated its voyage in 2019 with the idea of eradicating myths, eliminating the clutter of inaccurate and self-made knowledge, and offering evidence-based facts in the areas of fitness, nutrition, and lifestyle. The idea, which emerged from a YouTube channel, ended up being a historic beginning for many aspects of fitness and nutrition, including the health supplement company MangoHerbs, the online fitness and nutrition coaching program GENESIS, which offers solutions to people of all ages from over 42 countries, and much more. Strategically headquartered in Gurugram, the company distinguishes itself through the trust in the minds and hearts of customers. This trust is a result of the corporation maintaining a customer-focused strategy and using the best production methods. Furthermore, you do not need to worry about competitive advantage if you are giving the best service possible and meeting the needs of the client. A MULTIDISCIPLINARY BUSINESS LEADER, AKSHAY CHOPRA Akshay Chopra, Founder and Director of We R Stupid, is a former Indian Air Force pilot and has been the captain of the Air Force bodybuilding team. Akshay is a prolific writer and an alumnus of the esteemed National Defense Academy and the Air Force Academy. He has published hundreds of articles for different journals and websites and over 90 eBooks in his area of expertise. Akshay began penning essays for a number of publications and websites. Several books and eBooks have been written by the author. He has also given speeches around the nation at conferences like 7xTEDx, Josh Talks, and the India International Science Festival, as well as in hospitals, fitness expos, business events, and schools. After his retirement, Akshay very recently started his career in the fitness industry. He began with his YouTube channel WE R STUPID and started the Genesis online fitness program, which has clients from over 42 countries around the world. A GLANCE AT HIS SPECTACULAR JOURNEY In the late 1990s, Akshay commenced his creative endeavours in the fitness and sports industries. He comes from a family of athletes. Sports and fitness were in Akshaya’s blood because his mother was a national award-winning athlete and his grandfather was a former wrestler. However, excelling in sports wasn’t regarded as a virtue in the 1990s. Regardless of your talent, your social standing is determined by your grades. And Akshay was a top-back bencher. Even though Akshay hated school, he enjoyed reading. He was a voracious reader. He was able to qualify for the elite National Defense Academy because of his love of reading literature and sports. NDA completely changed his perspective on life. Following the NDA, Akshay enrolled in the Air Force Academy, where he completed his flight training before being commissioned as a pilot in the IAF. Shining more light on his journey, the inspirational persona apprised, “My first assignment was in the lovely city of Baroda. And while handling an incredibly demanding flight schedule and my workouts, I was fairly consistent. I was exercising one day in a metropolitan gym when a group of trainers approached me and persuaded me to participate in a bodybuilding contest. I participated in my very first competition, Mr. Baroda, after around 8 to 10 months of preparation, and I took first place with a gold medal. The IAF bodybuilding squad soon took note of me and invited me to join the team. After that, there was no going back. I continued competing in and winning contests at the state, inter-services, and national levels over the following couple of years.” The best part of this incredible journey was the hands-on training Akshay Chopra received from some of India’s best educators. From competitive bodybuilding to rigorous military training, from track and field athletics to several other sports, including swimming, football, volleyball, horseback riding, and more. But one thing that had been bothering him constantly all along was the theoretical part of it – the why, the how, and the what behind all that he was doing Everything started out by focusing on the study of exercise science, biomechanics, strength and conditioning, nutrition, and supplements. The expert fitness coach obtained numerous international courses and certificates but felt there was something missing from his education. As a result, he was able to conduct an independent study and delve much deeper into a variety of aspects of fitness and nutrition. After that, there was no turning back. MANGO HERBS: BRINGING THE PURE NATURAL GOODS Akshay formed Mango Herbs a few years ago with just one product. Since then, the company has grown to over 20 goods and has a sizable domestic and international customer base. Mango Herbs is dedicated to providing you with the most pure natural goods that are supported by reliable scientific research. It is the only company in India whose products combine the most effective elements of both traditional Ayurveda and cutting-edge science. BATTLING THE COVID-19 CRISIS COVID-19 was one of the most frightening and hazardous periods in recent human history. Many thriving enterprises were forced to incur significant losses or close their doors. Millions lost their jobs. But it was also a time of immense potential and learning, as people learned more than ever before about the power of technology and online business. During the COVID era, both the supplement company Mango Herbs and the online training company Genesis launched and had great growth. SYNCHRONIZING WITH THE LATEST TECH ADVANCEMENTS The health and fitness sector has evolved significantly over the years as a result of powerful technology solutions and people’s increased awareness of their health. They now have much greater flexibility because of technology, which also makes fitness more accessible to everyone. SIGNIFICANCE OF R&D Innovation is fueled by R&D, which is a key component. And in this fiercely competitive environment, creativity is the only way to succeed. The team makes sure that each and every product the business releases on the market is made up of the highest-quality components in the most bioavailable form. “We have a team of Ayurvedic and Pharma doctors and professors, and I myself am involved in the key facet of research for every product”, says the founder when asked to acknowledge the implication of research and development in the company’s operation. EXCLUSIVE MARKETING APPROCH As a direct-to-consumer brand, Akshay’s current marketing objective is to raise brand recognition, online visibility, and ultimately sales. This is accomplished through influencer marketing, with serving as the main source through his social media following. Additionally, in order to raise brand visibility, paid advertising initiatives are essential. THE FUTURE OUTLOOK – AT A GLANCE While speaking about the road ahead, Mr Chopra shared, “My present focus is more on expanding MangoHerbs’ product line and customer base. We started a business with just one product, and it has since grown to over 20 goods, with the goal of eventually reaching more than 50. The goal is to penetrate verticals like skin care and hair care over the course of the next five years and surpass 100 crores yearly.” MOTIVATING WORDS FOR ASPIRING BUSINESS LEADERS Be specific about your target market niche and familiar with the psychology of the Indian customer. Set attainable but loftier goals, then put everything you have into achieving them. 11 10 www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 6 | Special Edition November 2023 INDIA www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 6 | Special Edition November 2023 INDIA 11 Kajal | Business Connect COVER STORY
  • 7. 13 12 www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 6 | Special Edition November 2023 INDIA www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 6 | Special Edition November 2023 INDIA 13 Hybrid education features the carefully planned and mix-up of both styles’, traditional classroom teaching and online learning activities. Despite attending every class on the bench via regular visits to the educational campus, a significant amount of class time is moved online to magnify learning standards. The online education system of learning is beneficial for both students as well as teachers. Hybrid education is giving opportunities to teachers to start freelancing work most of the teachers start writing education blogs during the pandemic and earn well. Hybrid Education System: Learn More Effectively 5.The hybrid learning system is mainly focused to engage students, parents, and communities to ensure all students are back to school. 6.It’s Combines both remote learning & in-person learning to improve the student experience and ensure learning standards. 7.It is a great experiment that took place globally last year and it shows that we can deliver education remotely & digitally. 8.In case of students not able to attend their class, they can download the session and can continue classes from the pause or start from the beginning. 9.Higher-quality interactions with students via email, discussion forums, or online chat. 10.Provide quality education including self-tests, tutorials, and online group projects over the Internet. • 10. THE TURNING POINT At that time, even though private channels like ZEE had started growing up but, the industry largely was ruled by the state broadcaster. Hence, to stand in the market safely, Sun TV started off with 3 hours of Tamil programs on the ATN channel under the brand of Sun TV. Since the begging of time, he had understood that, for a Tamil TV channel, unlike otherwise -distribution is king, not content. Keeping that in mind, Kalanithi had gained and managed a stranglehold over cable distribution in Tamil Nadu. This was one of the things that became the key reason that led to a huge growth in Sun’s dominant market share in the times to come. In no time, the Sun TV network started receiving a positive response, which led to the streaming of 24 hours television channels in several different languages such as Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Bengali. Which then further expanded the news, movies, music, and more. But the fortune he started making from the company was in 1998 when India liberalized the satellite broadcast industry. Quickly, the company managed to become one of the firsts to bag the license. From 1996 to 2002, his family had managed to be the ruling party in the state and had a strong influence and control over the national-level politics as well. Due to this, a lot of critics didn’t recognize his hard work. Many believed that the family’s power has brought success in his businesses. THE CHALLENGES. In 2003, Kalanithi’s father passed away. Subsequently, he got offered the DMK party ticket for the Chennai Central Lok constituency for the 2004 elections. But his heart was in his business and refused the offer. In 2006, Sun Group was listed on a stock exchange and raised around Rs. 600 Cr, for launching new TV and FM channels along with funding the construction of his new corporate office. Now was when a real issue started emerging. At the time of filing the IPO, a letter to the PM of India was sent by a Member of the BJP party asking questions about the conflict of interest with Mr. Dayanidhi Maran (minister of communication and information technology). During that time, it was assumed that his career was almost over. But he knew this wasn’t his time he waited for the right time. COMEBACK Kalanithi’s love for his business finally overpowered all the difficulties, and soon Sun Network started shining up. By the end of 2010, he paid Rs 780 Cr to buy a 38% stake of SpiceJet Airline from Airlines from an American private equity investor and the UK-based Kansagra family, which in the next few years, he increased the stake in SpiceJet by investing Rs. 800 Cr. After running the airline successfully for four years, he had to sell the stake because of a huge loss. ACHIEVEMENT. • The former President praised the $2.7 B deal with him as SpiceJet had boosted the employment rate in the USA,during his visit to India. • Received the “Young Businessman Award.” from CNBC, ERNST & Young. • Forbes named him as the “Television king of southern India” Kalanithi Maran - The man who created one of the strongest media houses in India Kalanithi Maran is an Indian media baron and founder & chairman of Sun Group who owns 32 television channels, 2 news dailies, weeklies, 45 Fm Radio Stations, DTH (Direct-to-home) Services, and a movie production house. From 2010 to 2015, he also held half of the stack in the airline’s company Spice-Jet. According to Forbes, he is India’s 57th richest person with $2.4B. Early life and education. Kalanithi, whose name means treasure trove in Sanskrit, was born on the 22nd of July 1964 in Chennai. He grew up in a powerful family wherein his father Murasoli Maran was the former Union Minister of commerce, his brother Dayanidhi Maran was India’s former textile minister. While his grand-uncle M. Karunanithi was the former chief minister of Tamil Nadu. He studied at Chennai’s Don Bosco School and Loyola College. After graduating high school, he joined Loyola College, and in no time was chosen as the student’s union chairman and also led an agitation on the Sri Lankan Tamils issue. Kalanithi attended the University of Scranton in the United States to study administration. In 1987, he returned from the US and decided to join his father’s magazine, Kungugumum. He tied and knot with Kaveri, who is the Joint Managing Director of Sun Network, from whom he has a daughter named Kaviya (born 1992) CAREER When he was pursuing a master’s degree (in the mid-80s). What he saw that the USA was offering had a wide array of channels. Which were spread across multiple genres. It inspired him to do something in the media field. But being so young, he wasn’t ready for that. After returning from the USA, he started a new venture Poomalai under his family wing - a monthly news videos capsules. After successfully running the same for around 2 years, he was forced to stop the business due to privacy. But this didn’t stop him from moving forward in life. Having a sufficient amount of experience in the media industry, he started cable television and Sun TV. In just a few years, the sun TV network became the giant cable network in south India. Life Cycle of Sun group Now as much as unsatisfied Kalanithi was by the uncontrolled privacy, he decided to keep him calm and make the most out of the “opportunity in-disguise” that had presented itself. In 1993, he took money as a loan from a bank $86,000 grunted by his father, chipped in all his started Sun TV. He also sold his small stake of his Granduncle M Karunanidhi’s family. Although, he later bought it. He started the business with 25 people, who were mostly his’ college friends. The next step was to get a transponder, for which he first approached Subhash Chandra, who had freshly entered the media industry by founding Zee TV. He tried to approach him, but he didn’t get a chance to meet Subhash, and his proposal too was rejected by a junior editor in the company. Anyways, he knew what he was doing and didn’t let himself down. After little effort, he managed to get transponders to space from ATN and launched his Chanel. But this wasn’t just the end. There was no television cable service in the state at that time, so he started the television service SCV (Sumangala Cable Version) in south India. Eventually, it went on to become the largest cable operator all across south India. • 13. www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 3 | Issue 5 December 2020 INDIA 24 WIND OF CHANGE Yes, Covid 19 proved out to be a disaster for the world. Many companies were shut down. Millions lost their jobs. Startups could never revive. But there’s another side of the story as well. There were many businesses that thrived. Numerous new opportunities cropped up. Firms that were able to switch to a digital means of doing business dived through these situations to come out on the top. As e-commerce demand increased, several merchants were able to expand their online presence. Gyms were able to provide live fitness sessions to their subscribers via their own applications and social media. Ride-hailing and delivery platforms were able to spread their services to other industries and assist them in moving online. Within the first year of its formation, the Groples team had two of the major Indian corporate houses as clients. “ We have actively contributed to their diversity and social responsibility initiatives by helping them hire more candidates with challenging backgrounds.” shares Amit Khanzode, the chief Sales and Marketing Officer. ASSISTING WORKERS IN BECOMING MORE PRODUCTIVE Groples enables consumers to beat the competition by providing digital transformation and technology services from concept to implementation. Groples, a company that was “born digital,” uses an innovative, inclusive strategy to create customized solutions around the virtual supply chain. Groples Solutions can help you operate your business more effectively or increase your revenue faster. Better cooperation inside and across organizations, more personalized customer interaction, greater staff flexibility, and more reliable data findings are all benefits of the tech revolution, all of which help a firm expand and thrive post-pandemic. “ Core businesses such as accounting and Human resources may gain from digitalization by shifting away from paper processes and digitizing key aspects such as payroll, thus empowering management to concentrate on broader competitive advantages.” quotes the CEO, Mr. Charudatta Pande MAKE FASTER AND BETTER DECISIONS. Because of the Internet of Things, businesses now have access to bigger amounts of data than ever before. This data may be transformed into useful advanced analytics with the proper combination of analytical tools, allowing you to make better, faster decisions. “We strongly believe that the next decade belongs to India. We are going to experience unprecedented growth. The companies need to be internally prepared to capitalize on these opportunities. While we are preparing technology solutions for the medium and small enterprises, the owners and senior management of these organisations must start considering technology as their partner in growth.” quotes the CEO IMPROVE BUSINESS PARTNERSHIPS Customer demand is growing, and rivalry within sectors is strong. Businesses are growing more dependent on one another, collaborating with distributors and retailers, middlemen, and specialized advisors. Managing these relationships frequently necessitates document-based interaction, which has historically been seen as a time-consuming impediment to efficiency. However, technology is now available to revamp this procedure. “ We assist in the transformation of technological infrastructure workflows in order to offer digitized frameworks, boost corporate agility, and promote sustainability,” adds Mr. Amit Joshi. LOOKING FORWARD The company would build on cofounder’s experience of working with large corporations and solving complex business problems using enterprise systems to develop simple value-generating applications for medium and small enterprises. “ We believe that the digitalization for the medium and small enterprises would follow A different growth curve compared to the large enterprises. These companies have their peculiar challenges and would need realistic solutions to drive adoption at the ground level. Hence, we are going to build these applications for medium and small enterprises.” quotes the CEO. Most of the global technology companies are focused on solving challenges faced by large enterprises. We are building solutions that would enable medium and small size companies to use the right platforms and technologies to scale their IT operations in line with their business requirements Mr. Charudatta Pande- CEO- Groples Technology is not a choice in this new environment, but rather a core business strategy that must be integrated into every aspect of an organization. Today’s modern customer, whether internally or externally, demands the very same level of service in a work context as they do in their personal life. However, for a firm, this might be difficult to do. There have not been more options in terms of where and how applications are delivered, as well as who to collaborate with. Groples’ enables businesses to quickly grow their operations by using digital platforms and technology. They are aiming toward a goal of making a thousand Indian businesses entirely digital by 2025. Mr. Pande steers, “ Post COVID 19, Digital is the new way of life for all businesses. Whether you are a manufac- turer, trader, reseller, or service provider, your business needs to be digital.” Organizations that don’t really undergo digital transformation will fail Why are some firms performing better than others, and why are some firms doing better than before the crisis? Firms that have effectively executed digital transformation or those that have been able to swiftly adopt digitalization are doing better than others. “Companies who do not adopt Digital way of business will be left behind and eventually go out of business” believes, Amit Joshi CFO GROPLES SOLUTION Helping your business with digital transformation LEFT TO RIGHT - Charudatta Pande - CEO, Amit Khanzode - CSMO, Amit Joshi - CFO Avishek Singh | Business Connect 25 www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 6 | Special Edition November 2023 INDIA 25
  • 14. MUSHROOM CULTIVATION: A Sustainable Agribusiness In India “One of the major agricultural industries on the earth is mushroom processing.” Agriculture is vital to the Indian economy. According to the Economic Survey 2021, the share of agriculture in India’s GDP has increased to almost 20 percent in 2021. Farming in the traditional way is no longer a guarantee of profit. Through innovations in farming, farmers can increase their income if they wish. Recently, the Indian Government’s industrial policy and innovative creativity have encouraged research and entrepreneurship in mushroom cultivation. It has a lot of potential as a money maker. It is light-independent, feeds on organic matter, and does not require fertile soil to grow. India’s unemployment rate has risen to 6.8 % and the youth is no longer confident of jobs. In such a situation, the interest of the educated youth has shifted more towards sustainable agribusiness. Farmers are making good profits in small areas by doing mushroom cultivation in a modern way. The Mushroom Cultivation Market is projected to be worth USD 16.7 billion in 2021, rising at a CAGR of 4% from 2021 to 2026, to hit a value of USD 20.4 billion. Rajkumari Binita Devi, a mushroom cultivator from Manipur, is a great example of someone who was influenced by experience and was able to make a fortune and receive awards despite being an unskilled mushroom cultivator. What is a Mushroom? A mushroom (Kukurmutta in Hindi) is a fungus’ umbrella-shaped fruit. It is a tasty food that is enjoyed by both children and elders all over the world. It’s also known as “the future vegetable,” as it’s a guarantee against food shortages, hunger, and medicinal value. With the increasing population across the globe, Mushroom demand has risen recently, because mushrooms meet the needs of health-conscious consumers and are a desirable alternative food, especially for vegetarians. NUTRITIONAL VALUE OF MUSHROOMS Mushrooms have a low-fat content and are high in simple carbohydrates. They’re also rich in digestible protein, high molecular weight polysaccharides, and a decent source of fibre, among other nutrients. Mushrooms also contain unsaturated fatty acids, which account for more than 70% of total fatty acid content, as well as essential fatty acids, are low in calories, and high in vegetable proteins, minerals, and vitamins. They also contain a lot of secondary metabolites, which may be useful in nutraceuticals, pharmacology, and medicine. Some mushrooms have anti-inflammatory properties that can help prevent diseases like hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, atherosclerosis, and cancer. HISTORY About 600 A.D., the first mushroom, “Auricularia auricula”, was cultivated. “Flammulina velutipes” is later cultivated in China around 800-900 A. D. Commercial mushroom farming has only recently begun in India, with Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka leading the way. Andhra Pradesh is a big producer of mushrooms. Training of Mushroom cultivation in IndiaVarious government and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in India provide mushroom cultivation instruction. Dr. Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University, Pusa, Samastipur, Bihar and National Research Centre for Mushroom (NRCM), Solan, Himachal Pradesh are pioneer educational institutes. A “Mushroom Cultivation Technology” online training program is also available. Farmers, as well as entrepreneurs, would benefit from training programs. It is possible to have mushroom production three times a year because the length of 45 to 60 days aquate for mushroom production. Diabetes flour, pickles, cookies, papad, and protein diet powder made from mushrooms. TYPES OF MUSHROOM Button mushrooms, oyster mushrooms, and paddy straw mushrooms are the three primary varieties of mushroom harvest. These mushrooms are important in their own right, and they develop in different ways using different techniques and methods. To grow mushrooms, a special bed known as a compost bed is prepared. COST OF MUSHROOM CULTIVATION IN INDIA In India, the total cost of mushroom cultivation is around INR 1,50,000. Scrap Wooden Shelves (Rs. 20,000), Room Construction Costs (INR 1,25,000), and other Miscellaneous Costs are included (Rs. 5000). FINAL THOUGHTS Mushroom cultivation is now India’s most active and profitable sector. It is rapidly gaining popularity in India because it turns farmers’ hard work into benefits in a short period. Agri-entrepreneurship programs especially in mushroom cultivation that involve capacity building and access to funds for youth should flourish to solve India’s brain drain issue. What today’s youth lack is the inspiration and entrepreneurship to see agriculture’s promise and prospects?. Youths are a source of creativity and a strong source of inspiration for others. • 17. How to survive the 14 days HOTEL QUATRAINS D ear traveler, there are 14-15-days isolation required at your next destination. Today we will be sharing tips to survive the 14 days hotel quarantine. In the post-pandemic world, hotel quarantine has become compulsory in almost all countries – including India – and whist staying in a hotel for days on end may have previously sounded like a dream, it is actually a lot more challenging than it looks. Many popular destinations like UK, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Singapore, Australia, and many others have implemented a compulsory quarantine rule. Tourists have to quarantine in a hotel for anywhere between 14-21 days, at their expense. So, if you are one of the travelers who want to visit a specific country, here are some tips that will help you survive your stay in a hotel quarantine. Book a room with a view While the thought of spending your quarantine period in a single room may not be pleasing for most of you, booking a room that has greenery or mountain views or some such nice view can help. Out of the list of quarantine hotels, select hotel and hotel’s room wisely where you can feel good about spending your quarantine. It would be great if the room comes up with a balcony, where you can sit and enjoy a cup of coffee. Wake up with purpose Some people will be in quarantine for 14 or other 21 days- it depends on country to country. So, plan how you will be spending each day in your room. Start your day with some physical exercise, followed by a pampering session in the shower – try to accomplish something, even the smallest task is countable. You may also make a to-do list before you hit the sack and start next days on purposeful not. Also, going to bed early and waking up on time save the tone for your day. Taking a good sleep 7 to 8 hours is better for all of us, especially when you quarantine yourself in a single room. This doesn’t just give you directions but also a certain degree of control over your day. Do some exercise In this post-pandemic world, physical activity must be a part of your daily routine; it helps you to kill two birds with one stone – it keeps both the blues and flab away. Physical activities are known to release happy hormones – endorphins, serotonin, and norepinephrine. So, choose the physical activity you enjoy and can add in your quarantine periods. Dancing, acro yoga, aerobics – choose from several options you can practice to stay fit and happy. Soak in some vitamin D Catch early morning sunrises; you can also meditate or practice yoga while you get vitamin D. So when you are making a hotel booking, try to get an east-facing room. The coming sunlight through windows to your face will instantly cheer your mood and energize you to face the day. It is also good for your health. Stay connected. It has become very important, especially as the world combats covid-19, that we stay in touch with someone who cares about us. Use the hotel WIFI and make some time every day to talk with family, friends, and partners during hotel quarantine. Whether it be through chat, a phone call, and a video call. I recommend you make a phone or video call, in this, you can connect with their emotion. Digital detox Fixing eyes on your phone or TV screen all day is harmful to our brain and eyes. So, keep your eyes away from your phone screen to give some rest to your mind and of curses your eyes. Lesser screen time shearing offers benefits which include improved sleeping quality and attention span. Many research also shows that people who abstain from using social media are less likely to have anxiety and depression. Instead of scrolling – screen smartphone, solve a puzzle or read the book, keep in mind that books must be paperbacks. Eat healthy food As you are in hotel quarantine, try to choose healthy food options when it comes to your meals, including breakfast, lunch, and dinners – once in a while is fine. Self-isolation has made us seek comfort in junk food, but it will be wise to not let this time ruin our healthy eating habits. Junk food and processed food in your diet have many disadvantages, including obesity and leathery, make sure your meal (from morning to night) satiates your hunger and nourishes you during your quarantine time. If you are bored with hotel food, you can also look for online delivery services, which will offer you some healthy and tasty options. Cultivate a skill With quite some time in your hands, why not develop a new skill during your quatrain period? There are tons of options available on the internet at affordable prices, from dancing classes to cooking courses. You can start something doing something, which was on hold for a long time because you weren’t able to find the time. As you finish your quarantine period, do not forget to follow a basic rule, wear the mask, sanitize your hands or wash them- when you touch something, and maintain distance as much as possible.
