Lesson 2:
We Obey the Rules in
Our Community
Obeying the rules in the
community means doing the
things that help keep other
people safe from accidents,
illness, and other things that
may cause them harm.
TRIVIA:
In Singapore, there is a rule that
bans chewing gums in order to
maintain cleanliness of its
public places. Bringing chewing
gum in the country, buying and
selling it and spitting it out on
the streets are strictly forbidden.
GETTING READY
As Filipinos, we are expected to obey rules in the
community even though we are only children.
Just like the adults in the community, children are also
expected to keep surroundings clean, obey traffic rules,
plant trees, and help keep peace and order in the
community. These rules are made by the barangay
officials to protect each of us. If all the people in the
community obey the community rules, there will be
progress in the whole neighborhood and the people’s
lives will get better and better.
LEARNING WHAT IS GOOD
Rules and order are two things that go together. If the rules are
followed, there will be peace and security. However, if we disobey
the rules and selfishly do what we want, there will be no peace. We
may get into an argument or fight with someone as a result of
disobeying the some rules and regulations. We may argue about who
is to blame for a car accident because nobody cared about the traffic
rules. It is also possible that we blame each other for improper
disposal of garbage because somebody did not throw his or her
garbage in the right place. These scenarios show how important it is
to always obey the rules in the community because obedience equals
peace and order. If everybody cares enough to obey, everything will
run smoothly in our community. Peace and order will be achieved.
NOW I KNOW
As a good Filipino, I obey the rules and regulations in my
community. I know that obeying these rules not only
keeps me safe from harm, but also protects other people
in my community. By being obedient, I get along with
my neighbors and maintain the peace and order in our
community. Together, we make our community a safe
and beautiful place to live in.
I follow three rules: Do the right thing, do the best you can,
and always show people you care
