APIE is a nonprofit organization that has partnered with Austin ISD and the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce since 2004 to offer various academic programs that support students and add capacity to the school district. The programs include classroom coaching, mentoring, and college readiness tutoring at elementary, middle, and high schools. APIE mobilizes over 6,000 volunteers annually and delivered over $1 million in volunteer services last year. Program evaluations found that APIE strengthened academic skills and engagement for students, including limited English proficient students, girls, and boys. In 2012-2013, 195 high school seniors reached full college readiness through APIE tutoring programs.
