Wave power has been utilized since the late 18th century but has gained more attention in recent decades as its potential is realized. While the technology is still developing, wave power devices like the PowerBuoy and Pelamis are being tested and wave power farms may emerge as the technology becomes more cost effective. However, wave power faces challenges in reliability due to harsh ocean conditions and high production expenses that must be addressed for it to become widely implemented.
