Un-Cruise?
Unrushed. Uncrowded. Unbelievable.
Showcasing the very best of
the places we explore, our
signature Un-Cruise Adventures
are built on flexibility. Whether
you cruise the warm waters
of Mexico’s Sea of Cortés
or among the sun-drenched
Hawaiian Islands, our sleek
nimble boats carry 36, 76 or
86 like-minded travelers—punctuating each voyage with exclusive
encounters and providing extraordinary access along the way.
Travelers today are looking for exceptional experiences, and at
InnerSea Discoveries and American Safari Cruises, you can expect
to find them. You could be hiking to an amazing vista one minute and
paddling or snorkeling in a fish sanctuary the next. But if you would
rather grab a cup of coffee and sit on the bridge trading stories with
the Captain, you will enjoy those moments too. With any choice,
yours will be a personal and close up adventure.
Our small group size ensures the quality of your experience, allowing
the Captain to maximize wildlife viewing and other opportunities
as they spontaneously arise, and ashore, local guides and residents
offer the gift of friendship along with their knowledge in more
intimate settings. And throughout, we’ve set aside time for play—
kayaking, hiking, paddle boarding, snorkeling, exploring by skiff—and
to simply bask in your surroundings. It’s all designed to make your
time with us as engaging, active, and varied as you like, whatever
your preference.

5. Mexico’s Sea of Cortés
World Heritage Site & Biosphere Reserve
Just south of California lies an inland sea known as the Gulf of
California, Sea of Cortez, or Sea of Cortés. A birders paradise, this
rich archipelago serves as an important bird refuge and migration
corridor. It is a place author John Steinbeck found “ferocious with life”
and described by Jacques Cousteau as “the aquarium of the world.”
This UNESCO World Heritage Site & Biosphere Reserve is one of
the most biologically diverse marine environments on earth.
Discover a world of breathtaking beauty on an island-hopping journey
in wildlife-rich waters and on islands that are home to both plants and
animals found nowhere else. Coastal mangroves and dunes, along
with desert scrub and red rock cliffs provide the backdrop. Swim with
playful sea lions, watch whales, and discover a centuries-old mission
town. Hike nearby shores, rimmed with white-sand beaches and
cactus-clad ridges, then play in impossibly brilliant turquoise waters.
To explore this extraordinary place is to know firsthand how small the
human presence here truly is.
Hawaiian Islands
The Aloha State
Formerly known as the “Sandwich Islands”—as named by Captain
Cook following his visit in 1778—this archipelago of volcanic islands
and atolls sits at the center of the North Pacific Ocean marking
the northeast corner of Polynesia. The island chain forms the
largest marine sanctuary in the world and one of the world’s most
important habitats for humpback whales. Two-thirds of the North
Pacific population migrates to Hawaii each winter for breeding,
calving, and nursing. We encounter many of these same humpbacks
in Alaska where they feed during the summer months.
Mostly staying on the leeward side of the eastern-most Hawaiian
Islands chain, explore remote shorelines and along the way view
marine species and endangered animals, many native to the
Hawaiian Islands. Experience traditional Hawaiian culture, meet the
local people, and discover the natural gifts of these islands in a way
only accessible on an Un-Cruise Adventure. Immerse yourself in
this tropical wonderland to experience the islands from a different
perspective.
