Today more than ever your safety is our first concern.
Since Costa was born, in 1948, it has always been known for its
spectacular ships, the variety of its itineraries, the welcome you
receive on board, the sense of social and environmental
responsibility, and innovation. We were the first company to
achieve four endorsements of our excellence at the same time,
known as “B.E.S.T.4” by RINA. We have always been committed
to offering you the best by applying the highest international
standards to every aspect of your cruise and by increasing your
safety.

We have recently launched new safety measures.
Now each guest must be trained in emergency procedures
before the ships leave port, with an electronic card system
(drill card) to monitor his participation. A new website page
called “Us for You” is available at www.costacruises.net, with
information on the cruise lines’ safety measures.
We implemented the “High Tech Safety Monitoring System”
(HT-SMS), a real-time system to manage and monitor fleet routes;
a special bridge management training for officers, focused on a
more collaborative decision making process; a formal sharing
of ship’s navigation plan, with more officer involvement in the
decision-making process. The access to the ship’s bridge is now
more restricted.

Our officers and crew members in charge of safety are fully
trained and all have special certification (Basic Safety Training).
