This document provides instructions for various softball skills and strategies, including pitching, hitting, catching, fielding, base running, sliding, defending, communicating, and scoring. It describes proper form and techniques for skills like pitching with a windmill motion, batting with feet shoulder-width apart while focusing on the ball, catching by finding the base and squeezing the ball, and sliding feet-first into a base. It also outlines ways to get batters out, runners on base, move runners, prevent scoring, and strategies for the offense and defense.
One of the most common mistakes amateurs make is improper alignment. Some think they should align their feet at the target, others try to get their shoulders parallel to it. Hey, some golfers try to align everything at the target! They're all wrong. by Jerry P Sager

What things should I learn about the game of basketball? How can I hone my skills? Reading these
tips gives a quality information base when it comes to playing basketball.
Make sure you learn how to shoot free throws. These shots may seem easy, but they can be quite
difficult. You should practice as often as possible with this technique. Begin by bringing the ball up
to eye level. Look at the basket and imagine the ball going in it. You should then shoot and try
following the trajectory you visualized.
Keep your head up when you dribble. If you must look at the ball while dribbling, you haven't
practiced enough. Carry your basketball everywhere. Dribble the ball when you're walking to the
shops. Maintaining unbroken visual contact with the ball makes it difficult to be aware of your
surroundings.
Make sure that you practice your layups frequently. In a typical game, up to four-fifths of all shots
are layups. When you practice, be sure to run at the goal with full speed, jumping and shooting in a
smooth series of motions. Running and jumping well in practice means better jump shooting in
actual games.
Teach yourself how a bounce pass can be properly thrown. A good bounce pass should hit the player
on the receiving end at waist level. Letting the ball bounce close to the other person will help the
accuracy of your pass. It does depend on a variety of other factors, however.
It is important to practice catching the ball from others as much as passing. When you practice, mix
it up so that you can catch perfect passes and errant throws. In the middle of a heated game, not all
attempted passes will go exactly where you want them to go. Learn how to catch any sort of throw.
In order to get a good shot, good footwork is essential when posting up. Although a strong presence
in the key is important, beating your opponent to good spots on the floor is more important. Once
you get into your position, you need to secure it. These will both require powerful footwork.
A great way you can prepare for what happens on the basketball court is to avoid having your back
to the ball. It's all about court awareness, and always facing the ball will make it so you are less
surprised by passes. That means less turnovers. Always scout the court for areas that will open up
and allow you to make a clear shot.
Passing between the legs is something that helps when you have defense all over you. Practice this
by bouncing the ball hard between your legs as you take a step forward or back. If you get this
down, you will have a major advantage on the court.
