The Bob Feller Act of Valor Award Foundation created a "Walk of Heroes" display that tells the story of Bob Feller and 36 other Major League Baseball Hall of Famers who served in the military during World War 2. The display aims to educate youth about citizenship, service, sacrifice, and legacy. While Bob Feller is renowned as a pitcher, he also enlisted in the Navy just days after the Pearl Harbor attack in 1941. The Foundation utilizes the legacy of players like Feller to teach youth about values of honor, courage, and commitment.
Why this is the year baseball should correct its mistake and put Curt Flood i...John Eilermann St Louis
We write as baseball fans with a fondness for the game during the 1960s, when it provided a great escape in that turbulent time. In particular, we share an admiration for former St. Louis Cardinals center fielder Curt Flood. He won seven consecutive Gold Glove awards, was a three-time all-star and played an instrumental role in the Cardinals’ winning three National League pennants and two World Series titles.

Walk of
Heroes
“A Walk of Heroes” is a set of
banners that tells the story of Bob
Feller and the 36 other Major

well as Hall of Fame Frick Award
Winner Jerry Coleman, all of whom

While many know Bob Feller as
one of the greatest pitchers to ever
grace the baseball diamond, few
remember that he also served our
country when he made the selfless
decision to enlist just days after the
attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941; the
first American professional athlete
to do so.
