This document contains details from a workshop introduction to the Unity game engine for virtual reality development. The workshop leader is Dan Pacheco from Syracuse University. The workshop will cover an overview of the Unity interface, creating an interactive scene to test on desktop, using the Playmaker plugin to add interactivity, and possibly a live demo in an HTC Vive headset. Attendees are encouraged to download Unity and relevant plugins beforehand. Contact and resource details are provided for any additional questions.

Do this now if you haven’t already:
●Download Unity3D (Unity3D.com). It’s free.
●Create a freelogin, the log in.
●Go to the Unity Asset Store (top menu), and
download Playmaker plugin ($45, worth it).
●Download the SteamVR and VRTK plugins.

10. Today, you will
●Learn how Unity is laid out. What’s what.
●Create your first interative scene to play on
your Mac or PC.
●If we have time, make the scene interative
with Playmaker.
●And hopefully step into a live Unity creation
in the HTC Vive.
