3. HISTORY OF VOLLEYBALL
In 1895, a German man named, William Morgan decided he
would rework the rules of a slow paced game called
“Faustball”.
At the end of World War 2, The International Volleyball
Federation (FIVB) was formed.
The FIVB is now the organizer of the international
championship to this day.
Volleyball was accepted into the Olympics in 1964 at the
Tokyo Olympic Games.
The FIVB estimates that on this day there are over 500
million active athletes participating in the sport worldwide.
