Research Summary
OBJECTIVE: Gain a full understanding of all category competitive of means of transportation in Vietnam.
METHODOLOGY: Online survey
TARGET AUDIENCE
- Sample size: 565
- Target audience: internet users, 18-35, live in the urban area in the North & South.
FINDINGS SUMMARY
• Motorbike (owned) is the top means of transportation for daily commute (going to school/ work & shopping); and it’s also a
common means in socializing occasions/ commute involve many people along with the owned car, taxi & ride-hailing services
• Second is ride-hailing service, motorbike ride-hailing have higher usage & usage frequency than the car ride-hailing, and its usage
occasions are similar to the owned motorbike.
• Taxi & car ride-hailing are mostly for socializing occasions/ commute involve many people (go out weekend/ weekday, celebrations,
meeting with clients, business partners, etc.). Taxi is considered as the most expensive meanwhile car ride haling is considered las
less expensive, and owned car cost is so-so.
• The bus is also for the daily commute but has significantly less use due to slow commute.

inferred as sometimes alone & sometimes with other people.

Means of Transportation Rating
• The bus is considered as slowest means of transportation (bus 5.8 vs average 7.33).
• Motorbike related means are considered as less safe (motorbike – 6.8, motorbike ride-hailing – 7 vs average 7.5).
• Taxi is considered as the most expensive mean (taxi – 5.4 vs average 6.2); while car ride-haling is considered las less expensive (car ride-
haling – 6.4 vs average 6.2); and car cost is so-so (equal the average score).

  • 2. 2 Research Summary OBJECTIVE: Gain a full understanding of all category competitive of means of transportation in Vietnam. METHODOLOGY: Online survey TARGET AUDIENCE - Sample size: 565 - Target audience: internet users, 18-35, live in the urban area in the North & South. FINDINGS SUMMARY • Motorbike (owned) is the top means of transportation for daily commute (going to school/ work & shopping); and it’s also a common means in socializing occasions/ commute involve many people along with the owned car, taxi & ride-hailing services • Second is ride-hailing service, motorbike ride-hailing have higher usage & usage frequency than the car ride-hailing, and its usage occasions are similar to the owned motorbike. • Taxi & car ride-hailing are mostly for socializing occasions/ commute involve many people (go out weekend/ weekday, celebrations, meeting with clients, business partners, etc.). Taxi is considered as the most expensive meanwhile car ride haling is considered las less expensive, and owned car cost is so-so. • The bus is also for the daily commute but has significantly less use due to slow commute.

  • 5. 5 Means of Transportation Rating • The bus is considered as slowest means of transportation (bus 5.8 vs average 7.33). • Motorbike related means are considered as less safe (motorbike – 6.8, motorbike ride-hailing – 7 vs average 7.5). • Taxi is considered as the most expensive mean (taxi – 5.4 vs average 6.2); while car ride-haling is considered las less expensive (car ride- haling – 6.4 vs average 6.2); and car cost is so-so (equal the average score).
