Projects Resurgence in Quantum Field Theory (Master Thesis)
(Aug’14-Present)
A yearlong project work under Dr. Anirban Basu (Harish Chandra Research Institute, Allahabad,
India).We studied the divergence of perturbation series of energy in an-harmonic oscillator case.
For this we found approximate locations of singularity points in complex coupling plane for the
asymptotically small coupling parameter. These singularities reduce the radius of convergence to
zero. This work includes W.K.B approximation of problem and asymptotically matching different
regions of approximation. Now we will further look into resummation techniques of such
divergent series. Also, we will extend this analysis on how non-perturbative terms cause
divergence and theory of resurgence.
Symmetries in Horava-Lifshitz gravity
(Aug’13-Dec’13)
A graded study oriented project under Dr. Madhu Kallingalthodi (BITS-Goa). The aim of this
project was to verify the underlying symmetries of Horava-Lifshitz gravity, along with thorough
study of Hamiltonian formalism of General Relativity and foliation structure (with Lapse and the
shift function) of space-time. For this project, I self-studied field theory and topology of space-
time, along with group theory to understand and check the symmetries claimed for Horava-
Lifshitz theory. We were successful in reproducing the results claimed.
Inflation in General Relativity
(May ’13- Aug’13)
A summer project done under Dr. Prasanta Kumar Das (BITS-Goa). The aim of the project was to
learn about Gravitational Cosmology and Big Bang Model. We also studied the flatness problem
and Horizon problem. And learnt how inflation can explain them.
Theoretical study of Thomas precession of macroscopic objects
(Aug ’12-Dec’12)
Project done under the guidance of Dr. Prasanta Kumar Das (BITS-Goa) The aim of the project
was to gain deeper understanding of Thomas precession as a sole relativistic phenomenon. For
this project, I studied special theory of relativity and recalculated the expression for Thomas
precession of objects from two methods one involving physical arguments and the other was
based on non-commuting nature of Lorentz transformation.
Design, simulation and testing of laser diode driver circuit
(May ’12- Aug’12)
Project done as Practice School-1 training program at L&PTD, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre
(B.A.R.C.), under the guidance of Mr. Ajimulla C Shikalgar, Scientific Officer. In this project we
have designed a driver circuit for laser diode. This circuit was simulated then tested practically.
We have further designed 8051 based interface circuit to select the required frequency of driver.
