Kids Running a 42km Marathon?
Day of Difference Foundation is encouraging kids to get off screens (for just a little bit) and get on their feet, to help other kids get back on their feet with a unique Marathon.
"A Km a day for 42 Days" is the challenge but we really don't care how you go about it. We just want to raise valuable awareness and funds for a world first hospital program in partnership with Lady Cilento Children's Hospital - to help support families for up to 2 years post hospital stay.
Join the challenge for FREE at MarathonwithaDifference.org.au and challenge your friends and family too!
2. THE PROGRAM
The Virtual World Race is a motivational program designed to
encourage health and fitness, enhance student achievement
and combat childhood obesity.
Goal
Students from local schools participate in a contest
to virtually race around the world – 25,000 miles.
Activity
Students log their daily activity and chart their
progress with a goal of circumnavigating the world.
Miles are added as a student completes athletic
activities - more time equals more miles.
Progress
Each school tracks their progress and highlights
milestone destinations around the globe on
physical and web-based maps. Progress is
compared to other schools and elite athletes.
Awards
Students are eligible for awards and prizes at
designated milestones around the world and at the

11. Quotes
"Thanks so much for your help with everything! We're thrilled to have the program here
and are looking forward to seeing how competitive it gets between the teachers and
students. :) Thanks again!"
Fisher Elementary School
"Our kids really want to beat the other schools (I promise, we're trying to instill healthy
habits, not winning!) - We almost always have someone on all 9 bikes. We started our
"early bird" workout this week and had 13 KG & 1st graders on Monday, and 19 2nd &
3rd graders yesterday. Today is 4th & 5th grade day. They're using the bikes also during
their recess, we have teachers taking students out for a run in the morning, we're really
happy with how it has taken off!”
St. Bridget School
"Thanks for all you're doing to make the Virtual World Race a meaningful initiative for
the lower school boys and teachers. It's a good thing!”
St. Christopher’s School
"Yeah - looks like we have more teachers coming onboard! I wish you could be in the
library when the students come in to log on - they are so excited with their logs - today
they were talking about the beautiful weekend and all the exercising they did!”
St. Bridget School
“Thank you so much for your work with the virtual world race. As a parent of a non-
athletic child, it has been my goal to help instill the love of exercise in my child. It has
been a difficult goal. Luckily, thanks to the virtual world race, my daughter is now
happy to walk the dog, bicycle, and work out with the wii. I know that you are often an
unsung hero but just know that you are making a difference for my child. And for this, I
will be forever grateful!”
