W H AT I S V F C ?

Vintage Football Club is a non-government organization(NGO) driven
by local social entrepreneurs who harness the power of this beautiful
game to positively make an impact amongst the less advantaged kids of
Mumbai. Our aim is to help them make positive choices in life to better
themselves and their communities.
ABOUT

HUMBLE BEGINNINGS

Vintage Football Club has been registered as an not-for-profit organisation
under The Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950. It all started seven years ago, when
a group of early morning joggers regularly met up at the St. Francis D’Assisi
playground at Borivali. Under the aegis of former international footballer and
certified coach Diago Fernandes, the bonding sessions soon turned into
impromptu matches. Thus was born Vintage Football Club. Today the club
boasts of 150 odd members who meet at 7am everyday to practice soccer at
the IC Colony football ground.

The ground, located near Bhakti Complex, Dahisar (W) is an open space
alloted by the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai specifically for
community development through the platform of sports.

THE CLUB AGENDA

  1. Provide a platform whereby young talent can be nurtured to
their fullest potential and groom them to play at national/
    international level in future.

  2. Build a football training academy of international standards
with an innovative, highly regarded, educational experience.

  3. Develop children’s play park, basketball & tennis court, old
citizen’s corner besides a jogging & walking track.
WHY FOOTBALL?

Football moves the world - more than any other sport. It’s a universal
language with a universal appeal and whose values can be applied by all of us
in real life. The sport helps you stay fit and healthy while teaching you life
skills like team spirit, agility, creativity and determination. For communicating
life changing messages, football is the most effective conduit because of three
reasons:

a) the sport attracts youth;
b) the sport provides role models—key for behavior change
c) Growing popularity of the sport in India
How can football
bring about a
differences to the
kid’s life?

FOOTBALL AS THE PERFECT ANALOGY TO LIFE

The principles and values of football include fair play, team spirit,
tolerance, inclusion, and understanding regardless of their status,
whether as opponents or team mates. So kids learn to cope with winning
and losing; they take responsibility for their team and actively participate
in shaping their community. What they learn in training sessions and
matches can be applied to life off the pitch.

By doing this, we are also helping them to gain self-confidence and a
healthy outlook to life.
